Hi guys,

I'm about to receive a polisher and some menzerna compounds with 6.5" CCS pads. Just wondering if pad conditioner is really required, and if detail spray can be used instead of it if it is really really necessary (like mothers showtime, which comes with their clay).

As I unnderstand it using it will stop "dry polishing" for not completely primed pads, but if i'm cutting anyway does it matter all that much?

Thanks!

I don't use a pad conditioner, but I never use a pad that isn't primed with either product or a QD. The reason is that a dry pad will put defects in the paint that weren't there before.

well sometimes i use xmt pad conditioner sometimes no
but when i use it i dont prime the pad
i just put a little bit more than average and next time i put less
but i think as long as you prime your (new or clean) pad there is no need for conditioner and you only prime it once in every detail session
and u can use quick detailer as pad conditioner no problem

Use a QD in it's place, it's the same thing.

Magna did you get the bonus package with tape, xmt pad conditioner, etc?
Seemed like it was a free bonus when you pre-ordered?
& when are you expecting your polisher?

Hey neat, the pack comes with xmt pad cleaner, not conditioner. I'm expecting the polisher late this week (fingers crossed)!!! I tried to PM you the other day but I got some random error, wonder if anyone else is getting it....

Anyway, seems like QD can work, so that's good, thanks all for the input. If I do get the polisher before the weekend I think I'll only have time to do 1 panel, which may look a little strange hahaha!

Guys, what is the procedure with the use of QD or pad conditionner?

Do you just shoot a little bit of QD on any pad before putting product on it?

Thanks!

Chuck!

Just a couple of sprays to lightly cover the surace of the pad and use your hands to make sure that it is evenly distributed on the pad. You want it damp, not wet.
