The center console of my BMW is essentially a web of scratches.
It is some sort of plastic with a fake burl look to it.

How can I get it looking good again?

[1] Will the scratches come out with compounding polish same as with paint on metal ?
[2] If so, will they come out by hand ?
[3] If not, what is the best way to machine polish? Get a dremmel ? Even the 4" pads are really too cumbersome to do a neat job..

I had this issue with some plastic on my ladies little Yaris, her daily driver. What I did was hand polished it, very lightly, to try and minimize it's appearance, than I used some megs interior protectant and OPC to clean it up and try to get some of the shine back.

I have heard a lot of people talk about using Meg's Scratch-X for this type of thing. Never tried it myself though.

I would assume plastic X would be better for this.

There was another thread about a week ago on this, everyone recommended plastic x.

+1 for PlasticX

With a white polishing pad, or even by hand, it will remove cog-web scratches on wooded dash trim. Been there, done that.

Is the console clear coated?

My bad, that's what I meant. I am a goof ball.

Kind of looks clear coated, but I really do not know.

Meguiar's, AG sells it and you can get it over the counter at most auto parts stores.

Megs 205 by hand or machine (with a lot of taping)
