I knew I had a machine somewhere from when i was in high school, learning to detail cars at a used car lot. I found it today, a Black and Decker "buffmaster" model 6138.

I am not sure if this machine is any good for use, it hasnt been talked about on forums for a few years, and apparantly has gone through several transformations and is now sold under the Dewalt name?

I would love to teach myself how to properly use this machine, and make my cars that much nicer.

Where do I start, should I even mess around with 2 brand new cars being all I have to learn on? What should I start with for products?

Are there any articles out there with discussion in things like

Speed
Pads
Products
Using it machines around trim and weather stripping

I am sure this has been covered, but with 1-3 pages of new entries everyday, searching is a bit tough, this forum has so much information to decipher!

You want to be looking through Mike Phillips' articles to get started in the knowledge department. I'm all for seeing people picking up rotaries but I wouldn't recommend a new user practicing on a brand new car.
