My friend has a 95 Mustang Convertible with a white canvas top. The top has some serious embedded dirt on it normal washing an store bought cleaners wont touch it.
Now we have found out that his car with the color of the car, top, and interior is 1 of only 36 made.

How can we get the top back to its bright white look without harming it?
Thanks in advance..

ARO full
Spray on Amazing Roll Off and watch the dirt roll off! (http://www.autogeek.net/amazing-roll-off.html) Or

OPC 4:1

Optimum Power Clean™ All Purpose Cleaner 128 oz. Refill New & Improved! (http://www.autogeek.net/128oz-optimum-power-clean-apc.html)

To clean the top then I would use

RaggTopp Vinyl Protectant: Endorsed by HAARTZ, the leader in car top manufacturing, this protectant will protect against UV rays, dust, grease, dirt (http://www.autogeek.net/ravipr.html) to protect it.

I'm thinking a white top with some serious stains will need to be replaced to completely fix the problem. I'm not sure what you tried, but I'm guessing you tried several products. Maybe try some 303 Fabric Cleaner? As a last ditch effort, you could try products designed to remove stains from carpets on a small test spot, like Folex. The good news is you won't have to worry about it taking the color off, the bad news is it could cause yellowing. Either way, if you do manage to get it clean somehow, you will need to protect it after its clean with 303 Fabric Protector or RaggTop.

What you are calling stains maybe crease marks in the fabric the result of the top being folded they are very difficult to impossible to remove. The best way to avoid the marks is to keep the top clean, & do not fold the top down when wet.
The top was most likely made the Haartz Corp. maybe they can help.

Par for the course on an almost 18 yr.old vehicle.
Dye it, hand.
EDIT: unless not wanting to risk value, otherwise, new top.

303 Fabric Cleaner (http://www.autogeek.net/303aecl.html) followed by 303 Fabric Guard (http://www.autogeek.net/303fabricguard.html). Nothing beats it!

Spray Resolve stain remover on worst spots. Work in with soft brush. Let set for 15 or 20 min. Wash entire top with water and convertible top cleaner and soft brush.

When it's wet, it will still look stained. But check it out after it dries.
