Hello Folks,

I'm a new forum member and recently noticed a thread about collections / hobbies. I'm looking to revisit my old appreciation for model cars. I've noticed most hobby or toy stores have pretty cheap products; most are plastic kits that little kids can put together. I know some of those are actually not bad, but I'm interested in more sophisticated kits and have not had much luck in finding any decent source for them.

Anyone have suggestions? Any model kit forums out there? Thanks everyone.

Doug

I use to collect cars from GMP which bought Peachstate. Now they both appear gone. Hopefully my Grand National Collection will go up in pricing as I must have 20 different ones. oops ... these are diecast, I havent seen those plastic model kits in years.

Here are a couple forums I used to visit when I was building.

Model Cars Magazine Forum (http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/)

Forums - Scale Auto: For building plastic & resin scale model cars, trucks, motorcycles, & dioramas (http://cs.scaleautomag.com/scacs/forums/)

As far as kits go, I just picked them up where they were on sale.

Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Big Lots seamed to Have the best sales.

I bought cheap kits and added my own touches, adding the sophistication. Body mods, wiring, custom paint, etc were all added to the base kits.

Legacy Diecast. I have a pretty big collection of AutoART 1:18 model cars, but these aren't for you to put together :)

Hobby Heaven, Tower Hobbies, Ebay, Micheals, Hobby Town, Hobby Lobby, to name a few. Whe I started collecting plastic as a kid they were about $5-8 a kit. Now a days they are closer to about $25+ a kit.
