Hi there,

I really like to listen to music when I detail cars and am looking for a small battery operated radio I could listen to FM stations as well as my iPod when I am on a job. Anyone use anything like this and have any suggestions for something I could pick up?

Note: please don't turn this into a discussion about listening to music while on a job or anything like that. Just looking for suggestions for something to use. :dblthumb2:

Maybe think about picking up a portable satellite radio walkman. I hardly EVER listen to the radio these days.

XM - XMp3i Portable Satellite Radio with Home Kit - XPMP3H1 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/XM+-+XMp3i+Portable+Satellite+Radio+with+Home+Kit/9825703.p?id=1218178699260&skuId=9825703)

There are ways of getting around paying the full subscription price of $179. I just renewed my XM for $84 bucks.

I have some computer speaker set in my garage that I use, but when using the da, the speakers have to be really loud, too loud as a matter of fact. The only way to be able to actually listen to music is with headphones @ deafening volumes. I have a 5th gen ipod nano with radio and some old Sony headphones @ $40.

Either listen to the already loud/deafening sound of the da or music so I choose my music.

I use my ipod with noise canceling headphones so I can hear the music while I'm buffing. If you're mobile I would think headphones are a must since the customer may not want music blasting at their house.

I do have a good pair of headphones for that reason.

I am looking for something portable for use at my house or somewhere where they either don't mind or are not home when I'm working.

I use an iPod with a boombox. I like the headphone noise canceling headphone idea, may have to try that out.

I have wireless speakers throughout my house and garage that all feed from an iHome type system in my living room. They work awesome for when I'm just out working on something and want some music.

I have a PC in the garage that I use to stream Pandora and listen to my personal music collection. At a mobile job I just use headphones.

I use my iphone and plug headphones into it on the rare occasion that I am mobile and plug the iphone into my stereo in my garage to listen to an online station, Sirius radio or my own selection. Tunes, cigars and coffee are my staples for detailing. (I can't do the cigars whilst mobile, which is why I don't like doing it, LOL).

I have an old 80's Boom Box that I like to use. This thing is awesome it has 2 tape decks and a built in equalizer. The FF button kinda sticks though so I always have to flip the tape over and hit the Rewind button.

J/K I just use a small cheap CD player. Music is a must for me when detailing.

Noise cancelling/over the ear headphones plugged in to my phone. I can listen to my music, podcasts, audiobook, or pandora and still be able to hear if I have an incoming call.
Also, with a good set of headphones, your volume doesn't have to be high at all.
