Had the first nice weekend of the year and did the first of at least 5 polish/wax/protection details of the year for my car let me just give you what I have so far and I will get the final pictures done tonight.

Each step is done with the Porter-Cable DA. I don’t do anything by hand not even the removal of the polish/wax. I use the power waxier with a clean dry bonnet for that.

Here you can see that I don’t mess around a little tape will save you hours of cleaning the white off your black molding.

Question, did you do the hood in sections or did you do the entire hood at the same time? I'm wondering because I always break down parts of the vehicle in to sections, I stick to 2 x 2 area and it's been working good for me so far.

This is still open but I use my pc for everything. I just reduce the speed to accommodate the polish/wax/sealant whatever I think will work.

Yes I brake the car up into sections as well. The hood has three, one in the middle and one on either side. On the sides I work all the way down the fender. And then doors, deck lid top, back, rear quarter panels and the roof is split in three. There are 14 sections in all.

And the best thing to do is drop the rubbing compound, because its formulated for hand application, not machine. And pick up a compound like OC or PB's SSR3.

I did do the whole panel. And what you see with the hood pic is polishing pad glaze so you can do the whole center section of the hood at once. And on the back of the bottle of rubbing compound it state for use with machine or hand applications.

No Problem.

This isn’t my first rodeo. I have been cleaning cars longer then I have been driving them.

But I do understand where you are coming from with the comment. I like to do about a three by three foot section at a time and I over lap about six to ten inches all around to make sure a get everything covered. 3M is a very easy product to apply and it does have a long working time (sometimes to long LOL).
