Pressure Washers...and you

I'm curious what everyone is using or IF they are using pressure washers either at home or as a MOBILE detailer. There is a flood of options out there and I'm sick of my crappy one.

Electric or gas?

Mobile guys- DO you carry, water tank, pressure washer, a generator for electric?

If you want a good electric one be prepared to spend some cash. Kranzel and Cam Spray are both solid options. Gas is noisy and a pain to use IMO.

This is the one I bought.. It is more than I need for cars, but I have also had people ask me about pressure cleaning there houses before.. I like that it has the automatic idle down. So when you let go of the trigger it goes all the way down to idle and when you pull the trigger it is right back up and also you can adjust the pressure to what you want. So I can turn it way down for cars and way up for other things..

This is what I use. Costco was selling it for $150. IMO, it's perfect for cars and poses a much smaller risk of damaging cars than the stronger pressure washers.

I bought an electric one at first and i hated it. It was a 2000psi IIRC which is on the high side for an electric but still it had no oomph to it. So I returned it for a gas powered 2700psi one and have been happy ever since.

It's the GPM that gives it that oomph. ;)

Washer is also a TroyBilt and comes with a 6 1/2hp Honda engine....

+1 I have a Simpson rated at 2.6 gpm at 2600 psi. I am using larger than normal spray tips bringing the pressure down to about 1200 psi at about 3 gpm. Works well and safely.

I have a Karcher K series that was pretty cheap from Walmart. I know the life expectancy of the cheaper electrics isn't too long. However, I only use it to wash cars, so it's more than enough. I figure I don't need super pressure to wash cars. All Karchers consumer models come with a 1 year exchange warranty ( you cut of the tag and cord and they mail you a new one). So far, so good. For my use, its real hard to me to justify spending more than the $129 Walmart charged me for it. As, it works great. I also bought and extension pressure hose, so now the machine can sit in the garage and I can do a whole big truck without having to move the machine around. I won highly reccomend this for anyone interested in one of these lower cost machines, as 25 ft of pressure hose means you will likely have to move theachine around to get around to different sides of the car. I also just ordered a MTM Hydro Foam Lance, and I'm hoping this machine has enough power to make at least decent foam.

I'm mobile. I don't use a pressure I don't see a need for it. I use the chemical guys Eco pod. It's a low pressure system. It pairs perfectly with onr washes. It's cordless and rechargeable. I carry a Honda 2000 for my generator it's quite and light. My Eco pod is silent.

Here is what I was using (http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200347872_200347872) until I moved into my wife's house, which unfortunately doesn't have 220v service. 3000psi and 2.5gpm. Until you use one with more than 2gpm you don't know what you're missing....though I did dial this one down a bit for regular use on cars. A quality hose and quick connect are nice too.

I picked up a cheap one at a box store that works (1850psi 1.5gpm), but I can pee with just about as much pressure as that thing after doing a power hour. :D
