For many completing an entire car just isn't feasible due to a variety of reasons. Breaking the car into sections or individual panels makes perfect sense allowing you to work at your own pace and do the job right, the first time...

As long as the foam doesn't dry up I see no problem.
I clay after washing and do not dry, just spritz some PB S&W and clay away. I always polish after claying though.

Soap is the original clay lube and always worked well IMO! Just don't let dry, follow with a proper rinse and you are good to go.

It's cheaper than clay lube, and as much as an advocate I am for using products to do the job of other dedicated products, QDs as clay lube do work a lot better than the foaming car shampoos/soaps that I've used for clay lubes.

I agree it's not a bad idea, just be care not to get your dilutions to low, because some soaps can actually cause clay to break down an fall apart. So as long as you don't let it dry, and don't use too much soap I think it's a fine idea. Not sure it would actually save any time, but then again detailing is never a race. :dblthumb2:

Personally I recommend to stick with a dedicated lube, for example Luber, I have only heard great things of it , atm I am still using the mothers and megs qd I have.

CG Luber is my lube of choice, and it can be cut 1:1
