While out working on a long-time client's car, I was introduced to the owner of this truck. After discussing options he decided to go for a 2 stage correction on his truck and a basic (no paint correction) on his two other cars. The truck was in very poor shape, but thankfully the paint was quite soft and corrected easily. About 85% correction was achieved on this one. There were still some RIDS left as this was far from a full correction but the improvement was dramatic. Unfortunately the client lacked honesty and integrity and also *tried* to physically intimidate me.....so he will have to go elsewhere from now on.

Big thank you to my long-time client Bob Smith for volunteering the use of his garage for me to do this job.

Upon arrival, it was in a very poor state, neglected for years.

Total lack of beading....no surprise there

Heavy contamination, paint felt like sandpaper. Went through 2 clay bars on this one.

How could he have a problem with that, the truck looks great? :dblthumb2:

Cars were not done on days we originally agreed to....says I changed things on him, even though I have emails proving that not to be the case. Same thing with pickup times, he came several hours early expecting to be driving it away and was mad when it wasn't done...fact is I have texts saying what time it will be ready and his acknowledgement that it was fine.

He refused to show ID with his check (which was agreed upon at dropoff) then when I insisted he got indignant and tried to physically intimidate me. It did not work.

Some people have problems with the truth...

That's crazy. Some people are just never happy.

What did you use for tools and products if you don't mind me asking?

I am going to be doing the same color F150 in 2 weeks. Just wondering what worked best for you.

I think my customer only wants it to be shiny without spending too much so I might just use the PB polish/sealant fix and fill some swirls. But I am going to try to convince him to go for a full correction.

Maybe the guy will come around and things will work out in the end and you'll do some more work for him. Now that you have stood your ground that may be all that was needed. For some reason some people like to see where the line is and what they can get away with. It sounds like from your post your other client knows him so you never know. Good luck and if not then so be it let him find someone else.

so what is a ballpark figure for what the guy had to pay?

I did the same and in the same amount of time. was just wondering what one would charge.

If you care not to share that is ok too.

thanks

Well after this incident, he stood me up for the final car and wasted an entire day for me. No. There will be no future work with him.

Like I said, the paint was very soft. The "compounding" shots were with M205 on an orange pad (crazy I know). Left some marring but corrected well. Anything more aggressive than 205 on this paint left severe marring and dullness. Final polishing was Menzerna FPII on an LC black pad and LSP was BFWD.

Great turnaround!

Thank you!

Thank you! The windows were done with an orange LC pad with a 50/50 mix of M105 and D300.

Sorry to hear of anyone having a bad business deal with a customer. Sometimes the best you can do is take the high road and then let someone else have the blessing in the future.

Nice work and you undid years of neglect for the owner. If the owner's care care past is a precedent then the truck will just go downhill from this day forward...
