I am currently working on my 2004 audi a6. I am pretty good at detailing and I am able to use the DA from meguiars. I currently own

DA Microfiber correction system
M105/205 combo
Ultimate Compound

I have tried all of these with the microfiber pads from meguiars and I still cannot level swirls,I dont know if the paint is hard or soft, but I need tips to level them out as they have not been coming out

Audi paint is pretty hard. But 105 on an MF pad should do the job. I would look at your technique. Look at Mike Phillips articles (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/37769-da-polisher-trouble-shooting-guide.html). I use LC orange/cyan with 105 or MF pad with D300.

With a DA 5.5" thin pads work best

I have read the article and maybe Im not applying a slow enough arm speed or pressure

I have a 2010 a4 and was able to remove swirl marks with Megs ultimate compound and their yellow pad. If you think your arm speed wasn't slow enough that could do it.

Here is a link to an article/write up I did using a different technique to attain maximum defect removal with a DA.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/products-guides/39598-edging-da-game-changer.html

Maybe this can help, it did with me.

Im totally confused, is this when you use the edge of the Da to level swirls

I think edging works with MF disc only. Use it when you need more cuts for specific spot like RIDs. I don't know if it will bog a PC. I use Flex 3401.

Can you post some pics?

Megs MF system and 105/205 are some very good products that should take care of the job. I would try the slower arm speed and a bit more pressure. Also what speed setting are you using the Megs DA? You might need to increase the speed a bit.

Try a LC yellow foam pad

Yes it is. I use that all of the time now. You tilt the pad and work the defect with the edge of the pad. You have to find the right amount of pressure and tilt to get optimum results from this. But once you do you can remove almost any removable defect. I have removed 800 grit dry sand marks with it with ease. Give it a try and see how you like it. If you still don't understand or can't get it to work for you I'd be happy to help and try to explain it further.

I using speed 4 for the swirl removal and usually 3 or 4 for polishing step. I think I might need to bump up to speed 5 and apply a bit more pressure for quicker work time

Apply enough pressure to stop it and then let up until the pad starts to spin again. This should give you enough power to remove the swirls. If not, move up to a more aggressive polish and pad. Good luck.

I am using speed 4, should I step up to 5 when I add more pressure
