I don't think any will finish quire as good as 85rd on soft paint, but I like M205.

M205 is pretty close. Might depend on if you are using a rotary or not though.

How about 3M ultrafina? Menzerna 106?

Does optimum finish polish finish as good as 85rd?

85RD is a DAT polish though. The longer you work it the more the abrasives shrink, until ultimately you have perfectly polished surface.

M205's abrasives stay the same size regardless of working time. This may or may not give you the same final finished result as 85RD depending on your paint/speed/pads.

Yes I know, I want a smat polish to finish close or better than 85rd.

Oh, right on. I'd say M205. Its the only one I have experience with that's close to 85rd.

I will only work with diminishing abrasives if I absolutely have to. I'd much rather work with abrasives you don't have to break down. 95% of the time, M205 works just fine. My .2 cents.

It takes too many passes to break down 85rd, having said that I do think it is the best finishing polish out there.

Agreed. I use it on my car because I have the time to mess around with it whenever I want. If I was doing this on a random customer car I wouldn't bother with it. 205 would suffice in most applications.

I can't tell the difference on my Mustang between M205 and P085RD. I'm not sure though if that says more about the products or my technique.
