Hello all,

I've to detail a 2006 Black Toyota Corolla (5 year old original factory paint) with heavy swirls and moderate scratches on it. Please suggest me how to go about it?

After using Ultimate Compound, how should i move a head? I own DA (Porter Cable 7424XP) with LC CCS pads (Orange, Coarse Green, White, Grey & Blue)

UC
SwirlX
205 or UP
M07 or Deep Crystal polish or skip
ULW

I would say

1.UC with orange pad
2.M205 with blue pad
3.wax/sealant

Meguiar's Ultimate Compound - For heavy duty correction stick with your Orange pad.

Meguiar's M205 - This will finish up nice with the White pad.

Work your sections no larger than 2' X 2' in a criss-cross pattern. Do not move the polisher too fast because it needs time to work. Keep the speed setting at 5 for both products.

Meguiar's #7 is a glaze and isn't needed after polishing with Meguiar's M205.

Here's some great information that will help you if you need it.

Don't forget to apply a protective coat, a sealant or wax.

I know ULW is an acronym for some product but spelling everything out in every case makes the job of the reader easy and straight forward without trying to guess what the writer is trying to convey..

Thank you so much Bobby for such a detailed response.
Please accept my apologies; by ULW i meant Ultimate Liquid Wax

A little clarification is further required here....
Suppose I dont use Ultimate compound, instead I start with Swirl X and if i can see the miracle happening... what should i follow SwirlX with? ............... 205? or Ultimate Polish? or Meg's deep crystal polish???

If the paint looks great after SwirlX then go straight to wax, it's doubtful any other product will improve upon great.

I think SwirlX is being discontinued? I'm not sure but that's what I think I heard. If so then if you really want to create a super clear, high gloss finish, re-polish with it's replacement, Ultimate Polish or get some Menzerna SF 4500.

Machine apply everything, including your choice of wax and after each step increase your level of carefulness when wiping anything off the paint because you'll get to the paint where a single scratch will stand out like a sore thumb.

Actually i am from Pakistan, and we dont have any authorized dealer or distributer of Meguiar's, Manzerna, and all those fance names. Only products we have here are armour all and turtle wax and mothers. By the way i saw few meguiar's products on a retailer so grabbed few. Otherwise i tell someone to bring products from abroad for me. I recently made a purchase from Autogeek.net
