My new 09 metallic silver 370z(all factory paint) definitely has it. Just did a test spot so far. I used a green B&S polishing pad and HD UNO(pad dependent) which is supposed to cut and polish like a polish. Boy, did it leave behind marring/holograms! I could easily see the marring in the sun, even on metallic silver! I followed with a HT crimsom pad and M205 which cleared it up. I'm going to try an HT tangeringe pad with M205 and see how that goes. I actually prefer soft paint with metallics, because you can remove defects easily, and a quick follow up with a finer polish removes the marring, at least what I could see. I'll post some pics once I finish the car. With my lack of camera skills, it's too hard to capture 50/50's on silver.

This is how we learn Mark! :props:
The downside to this discovery is the same car produced on the same line 3 months later probably won't exhibit the same paint characteristics...

Hi Mark...
-Congratulations again on your your new "Z", and finding the 'processes' that's working out for your detailing of it!
-Out of curiosity...
I wonder if this 370Z has Nissan's "self-healing paint" ('Scratch Shield')?
-Also...
This "Z" has aluminum door panels, hood, and hatch.
IMO, then, heat dissapation from "buffing" may differ somewhat from the ZO6's: "Fiberglass-panels".
Just a few thoughts I had.
:)

Bob,
From the research I've done, only the 40th anniversary edition 370's in Europe had the self healing paint option.

Hey Rich, I tried it on a polishing pad and it didn't have quite the cut I was jlooking for. I'm going to try that, and M205 on a tangerine pad this weekend.
