2005 Honda Accord Coupe

I was contacted by a forum member to schedule a detail of one of his parent’s vehicles. We opted to go with a full interior detail and an exterior clay and paint cleansing and then some protection. The headlights also needed to be wet sanded and polished out.

The interior was pretty dirty and dusty, not many stains though. The entire interior was vacuumed and brushed. Then all the panels and seats were cleaned using Meg APC at proper dilution. The interior was dressed using Meg #40 and seats conditioned using Wolfgang Leather Conditioner. The results were a really nice, matte and natural looking finish.

Here are some before pictures of the interior:

Here is a 50/50 of the center console armrest. It was pretty dirty to start with.

The leather seats were really glossy and oily looking. Not a good look for leather.

A few 50/50 pictures of the seats with oils removed. No conditioner on the seats in these pictures.

The headlights were the first area to be addressed on the exterior. They weren’t terrible but needed to be cleared up. They were first cleaned and washed. Next they were wet sanded using 2500 grit. After they were wet sanded they were polished using Flex Rotary and wool with Ultimate Compound and followed with 4 inch green pad and M205.

Here are the pictures:

After the headlights were finished it was time to move on to the rest of the exterior. The plan was the do a full wash then clay bar. Once the car was dried, DG 501 would be used to clean the paint and restore some gloss. DG 501 was used on an orange pad on a GGDA on speed 5. The LSP would be Wolfgang Fuzion and was applied on GGDA using black pad on speed 3.

Thanks Ed. I am trying to get better with my formats for write ups. This one had too many pictures...

No steamer or extractor for this one. Just used a brush attachment on a DA.

Great job! What did you use one the rims and tires? Where did you learn how to wet sand lights?

The rims were cleaned using Megs Wheel Brightener and various brushes. Tires cleaned using degreaser.

I initially learned how to wetsand after a lot of reading and practicing.

Thanks a lot, My parents were very happy with the results and your professionalism. I know they have already given your number to a few of their friends so I hope you get some more work from it. My father works about 2.5 hours a way so he does a lot of driving and I know this will make those commutes a lot nicer for him.

I hope they weren't to difficult to deal with some times they can be. I sent both of them a fairly lengthy email explaining the general process and the specality tools and chemicals you would be using to help them understand the differences between a detail like you did and a 15 min car wash you get from the dealer when you get your oil changed.

Thanks a lot again, you a great job! I really appreciate you taking care of my parents for me the way you did.
