Klumz is from here too. Seaport village is a nice place to go. There are no real tips to stay safe in San Diego, it is a pretty safe area. If you start going into the area where there are bars on all the windows, turn around. That is about it.

On places to go... it all depends on her age and what she is interested in.

I was there at christmas, I had a great time it really was a great city. We got to go see the chargers (highlight)

some stuff i loved where

zoo (make sure to feed the stingrays its well worth the 5 bucks)
the aircraft carrier (forget the name)
there are tons of outlet malls
make sure she visits the ocean what a cool view
sea world

these are all cool places i think she would like

You can't forget the beaches. I'd recommend La Jolla shores or even Coronado. The whole Mission/Ocean/Pacific beach area, I feel, is more geared towards the college age crowd. Unfortunately, the forcasts states that it might be a little cloudy with possible rain on Wed. night/Thursday. Looks like there could be some 4 footers later in the day too if she surfs.

Another option is Balboa Park (http://www.balboapark.org/), since she will be in that area checking out the zoo. There are some nice museums and shows in that area. Then if she's got a sweet tooth, you guys can stop by extraodinary desserts. (http://www.extraordinarydesserts.com/) It's a few blocks from Balboa Park and my girl friend loves it.

It really depends on the age group. There's the Indian Casinos close by, 3 of them in fact. Tiajuna and the duty free store. it's ok to check out in the day time and please use the yellow cabs only. I got pick pocketed once there so be wary. She could shop at the malls out here. They're outdoors, which were something to get used to at first. Depending on her age, San Diego night life would consist of TJ, Pacific Beach or Downtown, price and age group up in accending order.

There is also a free bus tour (http://www.sandiegodowntown.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/cont.takeTour)every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month in Downtown.

That's all I can think of for now. Hope she has a good time and stays safe. HOpe that helps.

we visited the old aircraft carrier , we both found it really intresting and worthwhile although were not really into that kinda thing

if you do go...eat first as the food was limited on the ship

Hey CalgaryDetail.... I was the one that recommended the aircraft carrier - USS Midway. I am a volunteer there.

Being your daughter is young, she would like Gaslamp district downtown. Many shops, fine restaurants and nightclubs. Someone brought up beaches.... just tell her to go up and down the coast via Pacific Coast Highway #1. It is a slow scenic drive that takes you to La Jolla, Torrey Pines (US Open in 2008), Del Mar (famous racetrack), Solana Beach, Encinitas, Leuicadia, Carlsbad and Oceanside. Oceanside is where Camp Pendelton is - lots of Marines! She can stop at any of these communites and get the real flavor of San Diego.

Joe,

You better tell her to watch out for a blond school teacher in a red vette.

How could I have forgotten Coronado Island and Balboa Park!!!

Hi Gary. Nice to see you still love me!
So why should she watch out for me???? Hmmm????
I think Gary is looking for trouble here.
You missed me, eh?
