When using ONR...what do you do about bugs?

Sometimes i have trouble with ONR on the front end of whatever i'm cleaning...

i've always wondered if you can use a pinnacle bug sponge with ONR...

How do you guys deal with bugs when using ONR?

I will usually pre treat the front clip liberally with ONR in a spray bottle. I let it soak in and soften up the bugs while I wash the rest of the car.

Get a towel and saturate it in the ONR solution. Place the saturated towel on the bug infested area and ONR the rest of the car. By the time you have ONR'd the rest of the car the bugs should be softened

I do these exact same two things. Really depends how bad the bugs are.

Good Tip...

Here's something I posted in 2005, the idea being to use the towel to hold the moisture onto the paint and thus the bug splatter where it can go to work softening and loosening the splatter. A large beach towel works well for this...

This was my Honda Pilot in our garage where I would also wash the garage because it's pretty hard to wash a car in the desert without the dry heat or the wind drying water before you can dry your car.

Take a wash rag and saturate it with water or your car wash solution.

Place the wet wash rag on top of the dried bug splatter and allow it to sit for a few minutes. A variation of this would be to use warm/hot water.

To speed up the process, apply some gentle pressure while drinking a cold soft drink and if need be, hum or whistle a little diddy.

A variation of the above but for a larger area would be to use a larger cloth such as a bath towel. Saturate a clean, soft 100% cotton towel with water and place it over the affected area.

I use this method with thin microfiber towels. And this DOES work on our dreaded love bugs! I usually pre-treat (spray ONR from a pump-up sprayer and use the towels), wash the wheels (or something that takes 5-10 minutes), then the wipe off the bugs.

Great idea! I have done this on my motorcycle windshield and headlight and it worked great. I don't know why I didn't think to do the same thing to the front end of my vehicles.

Does anyone know if a pinnacle bug sponge can be used with ONR?
