After using SIP and Zaino ZPC on my new 335i, I notice some of the rubber gaskets/seals around the windows have a white residue from the compound. What is the best procedure and products to remove and keep this black and in good shape?

thx

For future reference, it's always safer to tape that stuff off (I know, on some cars it can be a royal pain). Start with something gentle like some Griot's rubber cleaner, P21S TAW or diluted APC. Try rubbing it very gently with a towel.

After you get it clean you'll want to put some nice dressing on there, UTTG or WETS will probably last the longest.

If I had a nickel for every time someone made a post like this...

We carry a number of products made for removing compound and polish residue, nothing seems to work 100% and that's usually the customer's expectation. Doing this type of removal work is never easy nor fun and that's always something a customer hopes for, at least the "easy" part.

My buddy Nick has an awesome review and write-up specific to your issue, check it out here...

Like Mike aka Setec Astronomy posted, even thought it's a pain in the rear, it's faster and easier in the long run to tape trim off than it is to fight removing the UGLY staining effect left behind by not taping off.

I made a video on this...

What is the best procedure and products to remove and keep this black and in good shape?

thx

Great input, thx. Taping is such a pain, but yet, probably quicker than what I have to do now.

My convertible has these rubber gaskets across the roof...

In my video I linked to above, I show taping off the fuzzy gasket some convertibles have around the sun roof.

Fuzzy gaskets are the worst because if you get residue on them you can't SCRUB them or you remove the fuzz.

Here's what white residue looks like on fuzzy gaskets but it's going to look just as bad on rubber or vinyl gaskets...

So take the time and tape these areas off or slow down and be very careful when using compounds and polishes around them.

An average size pink eraser is what I use. Even though I tape things off myself, sometime things get in there, "sometimes". I've also used this on other people's cars from their "handy work" and they're blown away when I pull out the pink eraser. I does make a little bit of a mess but it just wipes away.
