I am doing a one step tomorrow and figured I'd try my surbuff out. Can I just use 205? It's on a black Acura.

How do you use air to clean the pads?

Thanks Mike!

I don't know if the Surbuf will finish down LSP ready, even with 205. I use them for the grunt work then finish up with LC black and a finishing polish.

Hmm I was under the impression they finished nicely.

Surbuff with a DA is like wool with a rotary. You should finish down with foam.

They do finish down ok but I have just found that I like a little more refinement, especially on black. It may just be my OCD though. Give it a test spot and see what you think. I would love to see the results. I have never considered them for a one step but now you have me intrigued.

If your doing a black Acura plan on following it up with another step. I can almost 99% guarantee you want like the end result so to speak as lsp ready. They are harsh cutting pads, And will leave trails.

You got enough responses on the finishing and I totally agree as far as your cleaning question, they clean well with air blow gun like the MF pads.

I used one for a one step (a true one-step at that!) with DG 671 (Swirl Remover) and it worked like a charm:

I'd do a true one step but D151 doesn't last long at all.

Agreed. Every vehicle I've used a surbuf on ended up being a multi step polish.

I, for the most part, always end up needing a second step after using surbuf. However I would argue is doesnt ALWAYS have to require a second step.

I did this Nissan Titan with surbufs using only one step:

Does the paint have really bad RIDS or something? Otherwise I wouldn't use the surbuf, especially on "typically" really soft Honda/Acura CC, potentially could turn into more work if you use them. Thats just personal opinion though

I just used a white pad with a medium polish. I forgot my 205 at home go figure.

I have used them on a couple of cars. While they do cut well, they will be need to be finished down with a finer pad and compound setup. The Surbuf pads are the most aggressive pad I have used so far.
