Hi guys,

I have 4 Volk C28N wheels and on the winter some black stains appear that I can't remove with Sonax Full Effect. Can you help me with some tips?

Pictures attached (the wheels were cleaned during pics)!

Sincerely,
Stelian

I'm wondering if a claybar would do any good.

It looks like mold!

Steam maybe? Might need a more aggressive chemical.

Possibly pitting due to salts and or acids.

I've tried with claybar and nothing. If it's pitting from salt, what can I do?

Sincerely,
Stelian

If you can feel an indentation, or use a toothpick or so to see if it snags, then pitting is your problem. If not seek another solution.
If its pitting, only recourse is stripping off protective barrier ( clear coat or poly film) followed by sanding and refinishing.

Iron X Gel.

That sure looks like pitting. Stripping and sanding is what I would do. Then repaint and clear-coat.

I get similar spotting on the wheels of my Mini. Although mine isn't pitting but rather the ferrous material of the brakes embedding into the aluminum wheels. Iron X and clay bar gets them back to normal. Lne of these days I will seal them with some Opti Seal to slow this down.

Iron X is much stronger than Sonax Full Effect? I've tried with Full Effect and claybar and nothing.

It appears what ever it is has eaten through your clear and base coat.

i agree with the pitting, one user suggests to use a tooth pick to see if it gets stuck if it does it is pitting 100% and wheels would need refinishing. if not use some type of paint polish by hand or using megs dyna cone or mothers power ball. ultimate compound followed by swirl-x might work good on them but if you have any polish do a test spot by hand to even see if its worth polishing or just getting them refinished, if you strip the finish yourself and get them prepped yourself you can save on costs with getting them painted.
