So today I got a chance to test out the cutting pad and compound from MF system. I helped a friend compound/polish/wax the hood. When the car arrived I already knew that the paint was bad condition because he brings it to a automatic car wash a lot.

So I started with ONR wash on the hood. Then clayed it with DP clay bar with DP waterless wash as spray detailer. Then pulled the car into the sun to see what I'm up against.

Here are a couple 50/50 shots.

The MF cutting pad/compound is really aggressive and left the Subaru paint very dull. I opted for M205/white pad because I wanted to apply AutoGlym HD as LSP. On soft paint, using MF cutting pad/compound you have to do another step because it just too aggressive and marrs the paint.

I could see how this can replace yellow/orange pad with M105. It dust a lot less and easier to wipe off. The correction is great but the pads needs to be cleaned after every section because it products build up fast. Cleaner pads equals more corrections.

I got to use Eraser for the first time and wasn't really impressed with it. Went to finish the rest of the hood with IPA and it took everything off. Gave it a clean surface to apply LSP.

I went with AutoGlym as LSP and it does an AMAZING job beading water off paint. Out of all my wax/sealant, I think it's hands down, beads the most. Here a short video of beading in action.

I've been waiting for this review Gary...very nicely done. Nice write up, pics and video's. Did you just do the hood or the entire car?

Thanks! I just planned on just doing the hood because I did it for free. His car is great candidate for testing out new products because every panel is horrible shape. lol

Nice review and write up Gary!! I love the MF system because it has great correcting ability. It doesn't dust like you said. I also agree that the D300 step can marr soft paint systems but it works wonders on hard paint.

I also agree with you on AGHD. I love this wax because of the sheeting characteristics it gives the paint. Not to mention it's quite durable too. This is my favorite wax.

Thanks Marc. Do you go for D301 or use a different polish to remove the dullness?

How is D301 on soft paint? Is the cut/finish better then M205?

I really like AutoGlym HD wax, I stocked up a few when I had the chance. I will probably do a Auto Glym HD wax give away in the following months. I'm very grateful for help and info gained from all the pros and enthusiast here.

I've only used M205 to follow up my D300 step. Unfortunately, I haven't used D301 yet. I heard it's very easy to use.

I think M205 has more cut than D301. As far as finish goes, I'm not sure.

Yeah my go to polish is M205. I got about half a gallon left and will buy another one when I run out.

For really bad stuff I still go for Surbuf/M105. It has incredible cut, but most likely need a follow up polish.

I would say in aggressiveness for cutting for DA.
Surbuf/M105 > MF cutting/M105> MF cutting/D300 > Yellow pad/M105.

In addition to my post above, I think that M205/finishing foam pad will finish better than D301/MF finishing disc. By nature, foam will have a better finish than the MF disc by itself. M205 is also richer in polishing oils I think.

When I get chance to clean my garage, I'm going test both combo. Going see which is best for Acura soft paint. But M205/white pad always got the job done. Great combo for well maintained cars.

The MF cutting pads and a compound leaves holograms on soft paint, IME.

Nice job, Gary!
