Hi AG forum!
I need some advice on if I can accomplish what I need to, with the products I have.

I finally got some pads for my GG6. I got 2 6.5" LC Flat Orange Pads, & did Buy One Get One Free for 1 LC Blue and 1 LC Gray that my dog already ate. So I'm basically down to 2 6.5 Orange and 1 Blue, and hope to get a couple White polishing pads in the next couple of weeks. I have a small bottle of ScratchX 2.0, a big jug of CarBrite Crystal Shine polish(was given to me), Griot's One Step Sealant, a couple of very small sample bottles of some Wizards stuff-(a Turbo Cut, Finish Cut, and a Polish) and some various waxes-both liquid and paste (meg's, natty's red).

I have a red Olds Alero that has swirls in the paint all over. It had holograms when I got it too, but I hand polished them out for the most part. The swirls are pretty fine and not too deep that I can tell, but they really bother me and take from the shine it could have. There are some scratches in it that I think are too deep to get out, so I'm not too worried about them just yet.

Do you guys think I can do much good on these swirls with the pads and products I have, or do I absolutely need to get the White pads and some m205? From what I've read about the Crystal Shine, it looks like it does more filling than polishing and will wash away in a couple of weeks.
I also want to be able to get holograms and deeper swirls and some scratches out of mostly GM vehicles at the dealership I work at, since I plan to contract with them to do that.
I'm concerned I don't have the right kind of "Start-up" stuff that I need to do what I want to do. Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

I would think your orange pad with some turbo cut or scratch X 2.0 would take out some scratches eventually. Not familiar enough with your other stuff to comment...sounds like you need more of something like m205 or swirl remover to cover much area, but I know your orange pads on the GG6 will definitely remove swirls.

So would the Orange pads with a polish or ScratchX remove the swirls, or is the pad too aggressive and create more swirls? What about using polish or ScratchX with a finishing pad like the Blue pads? Is that just silly?
Things are pretty tight at the moment, but I did find some LC CCS pads for 12.99 with free shipping, so maybe I can get 1 or 2 more in a couple of weeks.. maybe.

If money is tight, then find a happy medium. Hard to get everything with what you have on hand. IMO - it is unrealistic to seek flawless on an 7 yr old dd unless it has repainted or is a garage queen.

Buy some M105/M205 and more pads or just buy the Megs DA Correction system and do it right the first time imho.

Thanks for all the input! That dog eats everything. I had set my pads on the table and was ordering pizza, then was going to clean the pads. I got done, and seen her going at it! I figured I had just enough stuff to make me realize how much I need other stuff.

I have a small bottle of

ScratchX 2.0,
a big jug of CarBrite Crystal Shine polish
small sample bottles of some Wizards stuff-(a Turbo Cut, Finish Cut, and a Polish)
and some various waxes-both liquid and paste (meg's, natty's red).

Not all products use abrasive technology that finishes out clear and defect free. Some abrasive technology will leave what's called micro-marring or DA Haze behind in the paint.

So before using ANYTHING on your car's paint, start by doing a Test Spot, that is test the product, pad and your technique to one small area on the hood or trunk lid and then inspect the results and make sure you're getting the results you hope for and dream about before buffing out the entire car.

Read through this article, it discusses doing a Test Spot and everything else you want to do..
