I was going over the shots I took yesterday during a cruise that my buddy and I took, and trying to quantify through the images if I can detect the differences, even if subtle, between my two favorite, and great LSP's. I came away with some conclusions, but I wanted to open it up to you folks to help decide.

Vette = Fuzion
5.0 = Pete's 53.

Photos were taken with a Nikon D60, no flash, with an Fstop of 4.2. If you prefer HDR pics, they are located in this thread:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/47541-two-icons-collide.html

I figured they're not necessary here, and hard to discern when in HDR mode, though they look nice :)

Anyways, here's my observations:

Fuzion:

- nuba/polymer hybrid
- applies and removes like a dream
- appears to be a tad more sealant looking - by which I mean a little glossier, however, I think it might be wetter looking at the same time???
- definitely less attractive to dust compared to pure nubas like Souveran, but still maybe less dust than Pete's.
- durability, too early to tell between the two. More durable than Souveran, but with Pete's not sure. Maybe someone can chime in.

Petes:

- also a nuba/polymer hybrid
- also easy to apply and remove. But if left on longer than 15/20 mins, can be a tad harder to remove. Should almost be a wipe on wipe off LSP.
- more nuba looking, which means a little warmer glow to it, but not by much. Less sealant looking.
- this might be subtle and maybe hard to tell, but imo, maybe a tad more metallic flake pop. Both lsp's don't mute flakes like Souveran does.
- more receptive to dust than Fuzion.
- durability, unknown. Tho I would "think", a little less than Fuzion? Not that I care, since applying lsp's is therapy for me.

IMO, this is proof that it is ALL in the prep work. It is very hard to detect any differences. I wonder if I used Supernatural or Migliore or Celeste or whatever, it would be very hard to tell any differences. What do you guys think?

Here are the pics. Btw, both cars have recently been polished and deswirled via PC, Power Finish. Both have Black Light and Hybrid V7 as the base, then both topped with Fuzion (vette) and Pete's (5.0).

As pointed out, it is mainly the preparation work that make a car look good.
The major use of LSP is protection.
I have both paste wax and I will go for a cheaper one, Pete's 53.

Interesting.... You don't think Fuzion looks better?

I have Fuzion but havent had a chance to use it yet. However by looking at the pics the Fuzion seems to have more of smooth glossy shine on it than Pete's 53. I like the look of the Fuzion better than of 53 based upon your pictures.

Both look fantastic. Hard for me because I think a well polished dark blue car looks amazing but I may also have some bias towards the red vette. I have both of these waxes but keep BFWD and Midnight sun on the vette. I will have to find a good subject and try my on test.

I prefer the look of the Vette's paint but that could simply be the clear coat. Corvettes have a very thick layer of clear on them.

To answer the original question, I own Pete's 53, but I dont own Fusion. The main reason is, I have a mental barrier of $50 with wax.

Hey Corey... Long time man, sorry I been busy. Yeah its all about prep work, but wouldn't you say at our level, prep is still only about 90% the look? So that 10% remaining I still want to chase down with the best possible lsp. Don't you think there's still a difference between Fuzion and petes or even souv?

I might have to agree with you on this. Fuzion is a tad more sealant looking, and the petes is darker and warmer, almost like souveran... So comes down to which look a person prefers.

Thank you sir!

Your car looks amazing in your avatar BTW.

So i have a bottle of bfwd that i still haven't used. I've been debating buying blackfire midnight sun.

Do you think midnight sun is worth buying? How would you compare it to souveran???

Yeah I have a problem in general LOL. I tend to collect lsps, regardless of amount of use. Ssssssh don't tell my wife how many tubs I have of difft lsps. LOL. 50 bucks is a good ceiling tho.

Since this is like a wax thread.... did anyone use CG Lava yet?

After using Pete's 53 I don't think there is any other wax I need (for the time being anyway). It's easy to apply and remove, and the cost is a plus. Like a few of you have already mentioned, I believe proper prepping makes all the difference. I have to admit tho, both cars look top notch!

I know that the prep work is essential, but all things being equal, I think that the Fuzion looks better, especially on dark paint. I like the way it makes the paint look dripping wet. It doesn't attract as much dust as carnauba, and it makes metal flake really stand out. I realize that it is expensive, but it is well worth the price!

LOL, yes a wax thread but not about lava ;). That's for light metallics anyways, colors which i don't have anymore.

I agree, the cost is good. What surprises me tho is that it's cheaper than 50/50.... Interesting. Maybe I need to try 50/50 on my kona paint.

yeah It does.... The wetness is unsurpassed. I'm surprised it looks wetter than souveran!!!!

Sounds like this weekend, I need to lather her in souveran and/or 50/50.

I am one of the few here that will admit that I don't like Fuzion. 53 is much nicer IMO and also cheaper. If you feel you need to spend $175 on a wax, there much better offerings IMO!

Cars look great and I love tha blue on the Stang! :props:
