hey guys, as you can see, i am a newbie here. i am looking to buy my first set.

i bought my car used with 1 previous owner, and he neglected the paint. there are tons and tons of swirls. and some minor, light scratches.

i am looking into buying a DA, Griots has been recommended.

the color is Octane Blue and as some of you may know about Mitsubishi, they went Eco friendly about their paint. its really cheap now.

so, what would be the best way to cleaning her up?

i have been looking into complete sets, and building my own. more towards building my own.

thank you for reading, Keith.

Hi Keith,

I worked on a 2003 Evo VIII last Spring and I found the paint to be very thin and very soft. I'm not sure how different your paint is from that one? I used a Griot's DA with 5" Meguiar's Micro Fiber Cutting Discs and Meguiar's D300 Micro Fiber Correction Compound, followed by Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish on 5.5" low profile Lake Country Hydro-Tech pads, followed by Menzerna PO85RD on Lake Country 5.5" Black Finishing pads.

Here's a 50/50 after compounding:

This is after all 3 steps:

That looks really good, the thing is.. i have never used a DA before. I am completely new to deetailing and now thats its getting warm out i can finally do something about my car. How much harm can i do to my car if i were to use the DA in a wrong way?

rotary with a 3m wool pad should take care of that quickly. DAs require too much patience.
