Was wondering if anyone has found any good alternatives to the expensive hot water extractors? I only do this as a hobby so dont really want to spend 800$ on an extractor, but after using one for years and my old job its hard to go without it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I am in same boat, but from what i have read the LGM Bissell Pro Heat seems to be the cheaper alternative. Not going to stand up the Mytee or Aztec, but will get the job done.

What has worked for me in the past is Folex as a pre-treatment and carpet brush.

I bought a Rug Doctor off of CL for $200 with the upholstery attachment. Mainly got it for the house, but the attachment does a good job on auto carpet.

There is a new Bissell "lift off" machine that combines a removable portable unit with more horsepower than the LGM, with an upright body that you can sell to the wife or GF as a 'dual purpose' unit for home as well.

I was looking hard at that one...
