well, another detail!. This time its a first generation toyota tundra dressed up in single stage super white II paint. This paint is really hard compared to most others, it just so happens my car has same paint so I know it very well. The paint on this vehicle was not too bad with swirls or rids. it was actually surprising the low amount of swirls but that's really hard paint for you!. of course you think this would be easy but not so much as the truck was oxidized. I wish i could have done a multiple step polish on this vehicle but alas, the budget did not allow for it. budget really did not allow for a one step polish but i did it regardless because i wanted to make sure it looked great, and the client got the durability I told her when we were discussing getting the exterior detailed. In the end she was ecstatic when she seen her truck. The main purpose of this detail was to get it cleaned up, remove the oxidation, bring up the gloss, and add great protection to the paint to make it easy for pollen removal while being within budget. Now onto the products/process used.

Process:

Wash using XMT Gel Shampoo & Conditioner- 1.5 Oz to 2.5 Gal h2o With Cobra Supreme Wash Mit

Clean Tires/Wheel Wells Using Meguiars APC+ 4:1 Dilution

Clean Wheels using Meguiars Wheel Brightener 10:1 Dilution

Clay using Clay Magic Blue With Detailers Pro Rinseless Wash & Gloss 1 3/4 OZ:30oz h2o for lube

Polish Using Meguiars Ultimate Compound on a mixture of Lake Country And Buff&Shine 5.5" White Polishing Pads using a Porter Cable 7346.

Waxed using Collinite 845 on a 5.5" Red LC Pad using a Porter Cable 7346 then topped off using Optimum Car Wax.

Tires Dressed using Optimum Opti-Bond spread via a car wash sponge half.

Wheel Wells Dressed using Armor-All Tire Foam(only good use of this product) then buffed off with a generic Microfiber Towel.

Wheels Sealed using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0.

Chrome Polished/Protected using same product/methods as the paint, protected using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0.

Trim Protected using Meguiars Ultimate Black via sponge applicator, let sit for 20 minutes and buffed off.

Head Lights and Tail Lights Polished same as the paint, they were not bad off just hazed and a tad bit yellow.

Before Pictures; These pictures were taken after the wash. And don't mind the date in the pictures. forgot to turn time stamps off!.

Write up is now done!. However, i do have one question with a problem i could not correct at this time the wheels have some sort of corrosion happening and making the paint bubble up and flake away thought it was brake dust until i was cleaning them and realized it was not. so has anyone ran into this? if so what did you do to correct the problem? (if it was my vehicle i would bring it to toyota or get them repainted myself).

Picture Below shows the issue and its on all wheels.

Hey Opie, that was a nice 50/50, tough on a white truck. That's just corrrosion/pitting on that wheel--there's ferrous metal in the brake pads/rotors, and the wheels are aluminum...that's what we call galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals.

gotcha. just being sure my thoughts were correct. seems like its bad prep and corrosion happened from below the paint because some spots are bubbles where the paint has not broke free.

Maybe we're not talking about the same thing, I was looking at the brown pitting around the valve stem.

im talking about that also, but some spots are white on other portions. so probably a mixture of both exterior corrosion and corrosion from when the wheel was raw unpainted aluminum.

haha from those angles yeah!. but up close it was far from it!. it started to rain so i had to quit and start the next day. so the befores were done when it was dark and gloomy. and afters sun was getting lower but still came out good and client was shocked/impressed so thats all that matters! but as you know white paint is hard to take pics of.
