New Toy: Husky 1800 PSI Electric Pressure Washer

I picked this PW up the other night at my local home improvement store. I'm in the process of starting my own detailing gig on the side but trying to keep costs down at the same time since it's just going to be on the side (for now). I know a lot of people use the Karchers, but it seems that there are a lot of people that also have problems with them. That's why I decided on the Husky. Here some info on it:

With the weather improving (majority of the next 10 days in the 50*s), I'm anxious to test this puppy out. I'll report back after I use it a few times to give my final opinion on it.

Nice man! I just picked up a 1400PSI Karcher today. Nice and small and compact. I got a 25 ft. extension hose to, so now I have 50ft. of pressure washer hose.

You aren't lyin' about getting a plethera of new toys for yourself! I just picked up that same Rigid vac about a month ago. I've only used it around the house but so far I'm really impressed. By the way, are you going to come to Indy March 24th & 25th for Mike Phillips class at Jimmy Buffit's?

Can't make it for the Phillips class. Too soon of notice!

I looked and thought about getting the other hose. However, the hose by itself is $40, and then you have to get the attachments to fit a 2.5 inch hose. Before you know it, you easily at $60 in accessories before the $70 vac. With that said, I got the detail kit with tools and 1 1/4" 11' foot hose for $20. Hose was actually a little bigger than I thought it would be, so that's very good!!

Whitethunder, I wish that hose wasn't so expensive. I guess I'll just make due with the stock hose.

Haha, I forgot to mention about the Husky after all the other stuff. I work at a golf course during the warmer months, and we use that exact Husky last year for cleaning the golf carts. It finally broke after about 5 months of use. But don't let that fool you, it was knocked over and dragged a handful of times, not to mention that it was used daily for over 4-6 hours.

In 3 summers we've been through 4 small gas washers and about 6 electric ones.

Now that I know 110% more things in this general area, I'm going to try and get the course a Karcher gas pressure washer with Honda motor.

Hopefully (cross my fingers) I'll have good luck with this Husky. I would have loved to have purchased a gas PW with a Honda motor but I'm trying to keep costs down for now.

Also, I just got back from washing my car. Broke out the Husky for the first time. Out of the box, the water hose and the electrical cord are of course molded into a circle so I spent a little time fighting that. The pressure washer itself worked good. I was expecting pressure like you'd get at a coin-op place but it was much less that that...not that it was bad. I think it's a perfect amount of pressure for washing a car; not too strong to blast the paint away but enough to get into those tight crevaces. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the first use. By the way, it was $170 at the HD.

Only using it once so far, its a lot less pressure than you think. I stand back a few feet and just spray away. It's more "tame" than a coin-op pressure washer for sure. I'm still using the two bucket method to WASH the car. I use the PW for rinsing, blasting wheels, wheel wells, etc. It also has two tanks that you can put your own solution in so you can do a "pre-treat" on the whole car before you start your wash. Does that help at all?

I picked up the same husky 1800psi 2 nights ago for $99 at HD, so i returned the Karcher 1600psi for the same price at walmart, i bought earlier in the day

Good thing about it - 3 year warranty vs Karcher's 1 year. It also seems to be more better built and heavier
