Mobile Detailers - Do you use halogens when polishing?

Really, for any of you who polish outdoors, does any one use halogen lighting outside when polishing? Of course, if the sun is out I find that's the best, but if it's tucked away behind some clouds, or not shining on one side of the vehicle, what do you do?

I'm thinking about picking up a stand with lights to keep with me when I'm detailing just in case. I found a few sets at Lowe's for $25 (dual 250 watts lights) or $30 for dual 500 watt lights). Which set???

From my limited experience I say mo' light is mo' betta!! I work in my garage that has three 60 watt bulbs for light......not a blinding experience. I bought the twin 250's and really wish I had doubled the amount of light for such a small amount of moola.

I'm in the process of starting my own business so I can't say that I use them "in the field" as of yet. However, I do have a single and a dual halogen light set that I use while I'm working in the garage (out of the sun).

I use a single 500. But, I got it for free.lol

I would go with the dual 500.

I always use a single 500Watt while I'm in the garage.

For $30, might as well get a dual 500 watt set with a nice stand. Downside, one more thing to have to haul around.

when mobile detailing i just carried around a hand held halogen light...home depot sometimes carries it and it was nice for on the go because i could throw it in the same toolbox as the pc...and it was only 10 bucks...it even had it's own tripod stand handle built in...

the xenon ones are nice but their charge only lasts about 10-20 minutes at best...and you cannot use them while plugged in for charging....let me do some searching and find the halogen one i was talking about...

I only use them, while I am indoors. Outside light works for me

Anybody ever try those LED flashlights? I'm thinking they might be pretty good.

Lights work wonders, but remember, they get hot, and then when you got to move them and store them in your garage next to news paper, the news paper will probably catch on fire, and then you'll have to use your old wash water (which thankfully you didn't dump earlier) to put the fire out. I'm not saying this has happened to me, but it's a VERY real possibility.
