I'm putting new tires on my car and as most of us have noticed, new tires come with some kind of mold release or something on them. I use Optimum tire gel to dress my tires but I'd like some sugjestions on what to use to remove that film that comes on the tires prior to dressing them. In the past I have had a lot of trouble getting that stuff off new tires and they sure look dirty untill you get that film off and dress them. Any good ideas would be appreciated.

Amazing Roll Off works well with the mold release on tires. Mist the tire with some water, spray ARO on, let dwell a minute and agitate. Rinse off.

some 4:1 la's totally awesome on the tires only will work to remove it, i prefer meguiars APC+ due to the orange oils in it works great to strip old dressings and waxes.

For how long do you soak the trim to remove old wax?

Thanks

I always use Zep's super purple, at it's lightest dilution, whether new or used tire.

Let it dwell a minute, agitate with a brush, rinse clean, then wash once more with the same car wash soap I use to wash the wheels with.

When it dwells, you can see the purple turn to brown, the tires look great afterwards, gotta love that natural rubber look!

What exactly is OPC and you say it strips wax? Is that at a dilution?

It'll always strip wax at full strength but usually dilute it 3:1 for stripping wax by spraying on pannel or interior use. Or you can just pour some in your wash bucket. OPC is very versatile.

Excuse my ignorance but what does POC stand for exactly?

I got new tires on the truck today, came home and washed them with ARO, then Megs degreaser. Got to try out my PERL sample, looking good!
