What do you guys use to remove the buildup od wax around the clear vinyl chipguard and decals? Also how do you go about cleaning the small chrome letters placed on the doors and tailgates on some of the trucks and cars out? Example: Silverado, Navigator.

APC and a boars hair brush.

Let the APC dwell for some time then go back and brush the residue out. Repeat if necessary.

Of course the APC should be diluted properly.

A brush didn't make the grade on the vinyl chipguard ahead of the rear wheel wells on my Silverado. After spritzing it with OPC 3:1 I had to use a fingernail to dig the crud out around the edge. On the lettering it took a toothpick wrapped in a MF to get around the edges. Blunting the point on the toothpick by rubbing it on concrete dulls the point so it doesn't break off so easy as well as preventing it from going through the MF. After compound/polish/LSP around the letters you just have to get in there with the point of a twisted up MF and work it. It's easier to prevent old buildup by being meticulous than it is to clean up after someone else's sloppy work.

As for keeping the vinyl chipguard clean... impossible. It's ahead of the rear wheel wells because that's where every molecule of road debris and crud hits. Doesn't matter if you have mudflaps or running boards or anything else... you're going to get crud around the edges that needs removed repeatedly.
