Debadging new paint?

I am going to debadge my ram, however last week a shop repainted my door and applied new emblems.

Is it safe to use the fishing line method on a recent 2 stage, or do I need to let the paint cure before attempting this?

What is a safe method/product to remove the remaining adhesive?

I would wait a month. Then fishing line would be fine followed by either goo gone or 3m adhesive remover: 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, bug and tar remover, adhesive remover, decal remover, tree sap remover (http://www.autogeek.net/3m-adhesive-cleaner.html)

That 1 month will be a good time for you to actually ensure you want to remove those badges. I had a civic that I removed the badges from. Some needed to go like those stupid immature stickers on the side that said vtec. Ugh... anyway I went crazy and removed the "si" and the "civic" on the rear as well. As soon as I removed those, I almost regretted it because it was too naked then.

I have been throwing up the idea of debadging my truck but now that I learned from how my civic looked, I try to look at it if it would not have them and I fear it too will look "naked" without them.

You should have no problem debadging it right now. but it might be safer to wait. your shop might not warranty there work if you play with it like that. who knows how strong the bond might be and some adhesives are incredibly sticky. you could risk pulling the paint right off that spot if its shotty work.

you could use dental floss. That for sure wont mess up the paint. there are a lot of different strength fishing line, and some are sharper than others.

what you will NOT want to do is use a strong solvent like the 3m adhesive remover or tarminator on paint that is not fully cured. so you will want to stay aways from that. on the bottle all of those products inform you not to use them on fresh paint.

a plastic razor blade and a fresh paint body shop polish should work fine at removing the small bit of adhesive left after the plastic blade scraper.

I have de-badged all of my trucks and love it, I have always used fishing line and goo gone. Never left any scratches. The only thing is if the lettering has been on for a while you might have some ghosting. But that you can just buff it out.

It does make a vehicle look cleaner. Didn't take all the emblems off my Altima. Just left the Nissan burger on, (so far).

Read somewhere that it is bolted on and another source states that it is glued on. I keep meaning to find a more reliable source.
Think some of the older Nissan's are held on with a bolt, but not sure with my '06.

Back when I had an 03 Nissan 350z, the burger was glued on. I removed mine to have them painted black, and then glued them back on.

Also painted the generic license plate holder the same color.

Think the little touch of imitation chrome of the Nissan-burger sort of adds to the look.
