I've searched around for the clear coat hardness on Fords, but I keep finding mixed reviews.

So does anyone know how hard or soft the clear coat is in general on the following Fords?

2002 F-150 - Bright Red
2005 Explorer - Pueblo Gold Metallic
2007 Mustang - High Performance White
2009 Edge - Redfire Metallic

My 2007 exploder was a little hard but the meg d300 kit worked wonders on it My daughters 05 mustang black was very hard wet sand and 105 wool did the trick

Your mustang might be a little soft. I just detailed my 2012 Performance White Boss 302. No issues. :xyxthumbs:

I have 2 Fords and I would say medium hard. I recently detailed a 12 Shelby and used Megs D300 and MF cutting discs and it took a littlle elbow grease.

A more important question might be how thin is it. The answer. VERY!

I went over a friend's new Ford FLEX and found the total paint thickness to be less than 100 microns all over the car. And some spots were even thinner. I am afraid to do anything to try and decrease the orange peel. I will only do modest correction to remove swirls. No wonder so many people are complaining about clearcoat failure when their cars are still relatively young.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone.

Hmmm...

Guess I'll have to be cautious then.

The performance white on my 08 is pretty hard. Have to work it quite a bit to remove any substantial swirls or RIDS.

My paint is healthy. Approaching 200 microns.
