And by bang, I mean the sound the Windstar made as we bounced off a Chevy Tahoe at 70 MPH! UGH...

So we are travelling home from IA heading east on I-80, I notice I'm closing in on the vehicle ahead of, not at an alarming rate either. I check my mirrors, look up and bam there's a Tahoe directly in front of us STOPPED in travel lanes.. OH F&*^!!!! Hit the brakes cranked the wheel left took off the mirror the banged the rear corner. As soon as we were under control I pulled off on the shoulder. The Tahoe just drove on by like nothing happened. Luckily I had a hatchett in the back from camping so I cut the wires and threw the mirror in the back.

No we didn't report it because we didn't even think about it, we were more concerned that the boys and us were ok.

Everyone is safe and we made it home with no other "fun"

I tell ya it was a hell of a ride, one that I don't want to do anytime again.

As long as everyone is safe! the rest is metal and plastic which could be fixed or replaced.

Glad it wasn't worse, which it sounded like it could have been. Surprised the Tahoe kept going.

I don't think that stuff will buff out but the important thing is no one was hurt.

I think most of us have been there at least twice and it's no fun at all. As long as you folks are OK and nothing more than a little shaken up that's priority #1. :props:

Underwear can be replaced.....

My dad has suspicion that perhaps they may have been transporting less than legal items..

Yes it could have been a whole lot worse, I was headed straight for their rear end. I'm impressed by how well a 1998 Ford Windstar with 145,000 handled in that situation.

Glad everyone is safe, that should buff right out.................lol

Thanks. LOL. Some will buff out.

Well that's a crap way to start the new year eh. Had you used opti-coat on that van, they would have bounced-glided right off w/ no damage done. But nothing a little 1500 and some wool won't remove :xyxthumbs:

Glad everyone is ok. When I read that you had a hatchet my mind went elsewhere. Glad you didn't chase him down and use the hatchet.

It's the van.... LOL. Had it been the car it may have been a different story, We actually may not have made any contact, but had it been, yes, I'd probably been in jail attack with a deadly weapon.

First and foremost everyone is safe and I'm VERY glad to hear that. I am surprised the Tahoe kept going but why were they stopped? Either way it goes...the van can be fixed. Sometimes I dread driving because people do stupid ish on the roads. They make up their own traffic laws. I swear my next vehicle will be a helicopter.

Underwear can be replaced.....

This is hilarious!!!

Glad you're alright. That's really strange about the Tahoe just driving off like nothing happened.

So was there an accident or debris that caused the Tahoe to stop on the freeway?
