Has anyone used this brush and, if so, is it safe (non-scratch) on clear coat aluminum wheels? I bought it instead of boars hair and horse hair, but now wondering how abrasive it may be...

Test it?
(Take one for the team)

Do you have a vehicle that's not important to you that you can test it on?

Also consider soaking it in warm water for a few minutes before using it as water softens materials. A few examples,

If you place a sheet of paper or even a paper towel in a bowel of water, after a few minutes the paper will soften and fall apart.

Dried bugs can be softened by getting them wet and keeping them wet with water.

The hair on your head becomes more pliable and softer in a hot shower than when it's dry.

Just a few examples off the top of my head...

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I'll do just that and post my thoughts/impressions afterwards.
