Hi guys, my name is ponzy. I've been a lurker for about a 2 weeks now and finally decided to join the fun with you guys.... Im a total noob when it comes to car detailing. Though, i always wanted to learn on how to do it on my own, i always end up having it done by a local car wash detailer at most once a year (wopping $150/ detail). 2weeks ago i received a gift from my wife, a griots 6 " orbital polisher plus an "approved" gift certificate of $100 off autogeek. Thats why im here :)

First and foremost, i have a 2009 honda accord, royal blue pearl exterior and gray interior, paint condition is MINT (only have it detailed once last year and just hand car washed evrry month since then), with very light swirls(visible even without swirl gun), normal wear paint scratches on bumpers(street parked) and some annoying paint chips( caused by small rock hitting while driving esp against big trucks over interstate 78- nj). Heavy water spots (could be more like a acid rain spots) on all glasses(visible esp during sudden colder temp weather that makes your windshield fogs). Well thats the "actual profile" of my car now.

Secondly, as i mentioned my wife gave me a griots 6" polisher plus its red and orange pads. I patiently searched for information and resources over the internet on how to detail a car "the right way" and luckily, i found AUTOGEEK as the SOLE store/forum website that give out informed facts about deatiling products, so i joined in and told my wife about this site and i spoke off about the christmas "gift certifcate". Then boom, my wife approved me of $100 gift certificate which i bought a klasse AIO/ glaze paint sealant and some bogo cobra microfiber towels (wish i could have bought more at that price. PLS BRING IT BACK ON JAN 1ST, PLEASE!!!! :)

to summarize, everything, i washed it, clayed it (with mothers gold clay kit- 2 pcs of 80 grams mothers yellow clay i think is not enough for a 15
Months of not having a complete detailing service, wish i could have bought more), used the KLASSE AIO AND PAINT SEALANT with my griots, came out great if not perfect(swirls is still visible---- i was just being a coward to overdo it--- I HONESTLYT DONT KNOW HOW LONG IS THE WORKING TIME OR HOW LONG SHOULD I POLISH EVERY SECTION WITH KLASSE PRODUCTS). I just followed the "GENERIC" instructions and did it. And I DID MY FIRST DETAILING at least on my body alone, not including the interior, extrior trims, glass, tire and wheel( still searching and waiting for best recommendation-pls read below)

Apology for a poor quality of the pic taken off my htc evo phone :)
It was time consuming on a freezing cold (but did it anyway last fri for a total of 11 hours---1st day 5 hours wash and claying alone plus a little AIO HAND BUFF, 6 hours the next day buffing with AIO with griots and orange pad, glaze with red pad (both griots pads) and finished off with a quick detailer.

Thanks for reading. I hope i can get some factual information(i know i could, esp from you honest guys here in the forum and autogeek) in terms of buying the RIGHT COMPOUND (M105? or Optimum polish 2?, or optimum hyper? Designed for a softer paint on my honda accord with my EXISTING griots polisher and pads; the highest value bang for the buck waterless spray on produc, excellent acid stain remover off windshield, microfiber products, interior and exterior trim cleaner and dressings(no leather for me). All these stuff were on top on my list this coming jan...

Again, thanks all for reading :)

Welcome Ponzy. I'm in the same situation as you. I purchased the GG DA 6" polisher / buffer just last night on the 24 hour sale. So I will be learning to use it too. I'll probably wait for a warm day or the spring. Where do you live? I'm in Reading PA.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Ponzy! :props:

For someone that's just starting out you've demonstrated some fine skills and not want more...Autogeek is just the place to take your skills and product to the next level.

Everything you used are great choices and by the looks of Honda things went pretty well.

Klasse All-In-One is a nice 1-step product. It's formulated to clean the finish using chemicals and doesn't contain abrasives. There are other 1-step products out there such as Meguiar's D151 but a 1-step product may not give you what you're looking for.

Experimentation with pad and products will allow you to fine tune your corrections and gain some insight in order to bring your finish to the next level.

Hi Ponzy,

Welcome to Autogeek Online! :welcome:

Im a total noob when it comes to car detailing. Though, i always wanted to learn on how to do it on my own, i always end up having it done by a local car wash detailer at most once a year (wopping $150/ detail).

Keep in mind everyone on on every detailing forum was a Newbie in the beginning... :D

2weeks ago i received a gift from my wife, a griots 6 " orbital polisher plus an "approved" gift certificate of $100 off autogeek. Thats why im here

She's a keeper!

used the KLASSE AIO AND PAINT SEALANT with my griots, came out great if not perfect(swirls is still visible---- i was just being a coward to overdo it---

I HONESTLYT DONT KNOW HOW LONG IS THE WORKING TIME OR HOW LONG SHOULD I POLISH EVERY SECTION WITH KLASSE PRODUCTS

As Bobby stated, Klasse AIO is a cleaner/sealant which is just a variation of a traditional cleaner/wax. See my article here,

The Difference Between a Cleaner/Wax and a Finishing Wax (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/hot-topics-frequently-asked-questions/23263-difference-between-cleaner-wax-finishing-wax.html)
Subtitle: How To Choose The Right Wax or Paint Sealant for your Detailing Project

You can work the product as long as there's a wet film on the surface as you're moving the buffing pad over the paint. It's usually not a good idea to buff to a dry buff, so as long as you see a wet film behind your path of travel you're good to go.

Wet Buffing Technique (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/36237-wet-buffing-technique.html)

Thanks for reading.

I hope i can get some factual information(i know i could, esp from you honest guys here in the forum and autogeek) in terms of buying the RIGHT COMPOUND (M105? or Optimum polish 2?, or optimum hyper? Designed for a softer paint on my honda accord with my EXISTING griots polisher and pads;

All the compounds you listed will work. The M105 is the most aggressive but the Optimum Compound II and Polish II and Hyper-Compound and Hyper-Polish tend to be more user friendly due to their long buffing cyle and consistent easy wipe-off.

Maybe give the Optimum products a try, I posted some information about them here after the new and improved versions first came out here,

the highest value bang for the buck waterless spray on produc,

The one we used on this blown 1934 Ford works really well...

We moved the 1934 inside and then wiped the finish down using Detailer's Pro Series Waterless Auto Wash (http://www.autogeek.net/waterless-auto-wash.html).

excellent acid stain remover off windshield,

I used the new CarPro Ceriglass on the windshield of my 1975 GMC Jimmy that had a film of gunk on it and water spots and using a Cyan Hydro-Tech pad on a PC it clean it up real fast.

So guys, its raining out today here, how would i know i did a pretty decent job on buffing out my car with the pic above?.... Apology for a totally noob question......

Mike, i hope the optimum products and dp rpoducts would be on bogo starting jan, :)

I used to have a 1994 q45 infiniti as my project car but it got too expensive to maintain to justify keeping it, anyway being that said, honda paint has a very thin coat compare to that 1994 beast. I dont have expensive cars but I just want to keep it clean and very nice looking on a budget on hand.
