Hey guys,

Finally got around to wanting to detail my DD/project '97 Jetta. Washed her, dried her then started to clay and this is what came off on my clay bar:

Never had the contaminants come off red. Just curious as to what this could be.

Thanks guys.

Overspray perhaps.

Looks like Jetfuel to me. Do you live/work near an Airport?

Could possibly be overspray

What color is the Jetta?

I live about an hour from the airport in Atlanta. The car is green(as pictured) which is why I was wondering about overspray.

I guess its a possibility it was Jetfuel. Usually I see this from FedEx is why I ask

Did it come off pretty easy?

Red stuff, natch!

Who knows, it's had 14 years to accumulate gunk, could be overspray, could be some sort of tree stuff. It is a little unusual, but I wouldn't worry about it.

blood from the squirrel you ran over without knowing it.

Yes, came off pretty easily. The paint still cleans up fairly nice, especially for it's age, after a good wash. The car's paint is pretty gritty feeling, and I am assuming that whatever this is is the culprit.

Lol, could be. The car is low enough to have smashed the oil pan once.

Full shot of said car:

The clay is defective. Whatever you have left of it, ship to me immediately :)

Great thought on the jet fuel.

Great thought on the jet fuel.

I really think you'd have to be parked on the ramp to have that happen.

Well, I bought the car from Birmingham, AL in July, which is prety dang far from any major airports.
