This is my first post, but i have been visiting here a lot. I have an 07 f150 harley davidson with dark amethyst paint. Had the truck about a year and used the "lower end" products with an orbitrol polisher. Thought i was doing the job until i saw this sight. I am looking to purchase a Christmas present from AG. I want a DA and product for my paint type. There are light to medium swirl mark. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!
My opinion only, Get a Griots or Megs G110V2 with Microfiber System and you can't go wrong.

The Griots DA is a great tool and pairs flawlessly with the Meg MF pad system.

You can then choose from several different sealants, waxes, or even permanent coatings. Half the fun is researching what fits your needs and deciding which product to go with.

Thank you guys for the input on DA. Would you have any advise on which swirl remover works on this paint type. I read about the hardness of clearcoats depending on vehicles. The paint is dark purple with metal flakes. I would also like input on wax and/or sealant that works well with this color.

Can I have the front seats out of your truck?

Just kidding... love the seats in the Ford F150 HD trucks though...

I'm going to guess the buffer you used look something like this?

The Traditional Orbital Buffer aka The Wax Spreader (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/hot-topics-frequently-asked-questions/25148-traditional-orbital-buffer-aka-wax-spreader.html)

We used the Blackfire compound and polish on the thrashed paint on this black, Chevy SSR and it worked great to remove the swirls and scratches and restore a show car finish...

Here's how it looked when it arrived...

The paint literally looked like it was washed with a scotch brite pad...

NOTE: I do not consider myself a Professional. :)

But here goes, anyway....

-If your truck has a BC/CC paint system you would be doing correction on the clear-coat paint film...You'd be removing some paint ('the clear') that makes up the clear-coat, not the "color paint"

-Removing as many "blemishes"as possible (your desired results) on the clear-coat will enable the underlying: Dark purple w/metal flakes "color" (base coat) reach its maximum potential, as it's being "reflected and shining through" the corrected, and what has become: A much more optically-clear, CC paint film.

-IMO...Pinnacle has some very good car-care products, including a swirl remover, that will be appropriate when teamed with your choice of DA and pads.

-Choose a wax/sealant, that upon completely curing, will also be optically-clear...Allowing your corrected, much more optically-clear CC to once again: Let the underlying "color" shine through, not be occluded.
-WGDGS 3.0 is an excellent sealant. Meg's #26 is an excellent wax (hybrid wax).

-IMO, applying either of these two products on your corrected clear-coat paint film, will help accomplish the goal of: Optical-Clearness. As a plus...your clear-coat paint will be protected, until the need arises to re-apply your LSP again, somewhere down the road.

-Even if your truck's paint system is a SS, you'll still be removing some paint, only this time it will be: [B]"The Color Purple"

Good Luck...and Happy Holidays!!

i suggest the meguiars microfiber system paired with the porter cable 7424/7346,griots garage 6",meguiars g110v2 polishers, for a wax and sealant combo i would go with some wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant or Detailers pro poli-coat then top that with some collinite 845. collinite is a inexpensive wax with the shine of an expensive wax and has durability that beats most expensive waxes.
