A couple of times I mentioned a couple of tools I still had that were an extension of my right hand. I used these in the autobody trade back in the mid 70's to the mid 80's and a bit beyond part time.

These tools stood the test of time and while I can't remember what the rotary cost me in 1968 I can tell you I paid $165.00 for the Sharp spray gun......in 1975!

I bought my first machine in 1968, it was a Craftsman Professional 2 speed sander / polisher. It's heavy, rugged, well built, and served me well for many many years. If I remember correctly Low Speed was 1500rpm and High Speed was 3000rpm.

The only breakdown I ever had with this machine was when the armature burshes needed to be replaced....

The bonnets I used to use were wool and compounding and polishing were readily available at Pelletier's Automotive which was also my DuPont Paint supplier.

Now don't laugh, these tools have been around and used longer than many members here have been on the planet!! :laughing:..........Shoot, what does that make me!!! :doh:

They don't build them like that anymore that's for sure. I love old tools, and use them at work everyday. Vintage Proto, and Williams are the best.

By the way, that photo was from the fall of 2010 in Jackson Wyoming...

Some days we all feel that way but since I'm recovering from open heart surgery to correct a birth defect I'm feeling more my present day age of 58.............A few more weeks and I'll be back to my ole self!!

On another thread I was asked why I chose Makita and Flex over some of the other makes available and I thought while I was at it why not take a few shots of some old but not forgotten tools.....

I enjoyed this post...I get nostalgic all the time. I was watching "Technology of the 80's" last night on the History channel and it brought back alot of memories from my childhood. Man I wish I could go back....

Goodness Bobby! You gave those a beating. They don't make them like they used to. LOL I bet you can appreciate the new Flex! Btw, I think you look younger than me but its all in how you feel. Heres to you feeling 100% soon.

Pretty cool Bobby...

I was at the local swap meet over the week and and found an old Milwaukee rotary buffer with two speeds, hi and low.

Must have weighted 20 pounds.


I would have bought it for the novelty but the owner was too proud of it...

Yes it was Tim and I can't even begin to guess on how many gallons of paint went through this gun over the years.

I'm feeling pretty darn good now and it's exactly 7 week today I went under the knife. Those doctors today are pretty incredible and while I don't suggest having this just because you're bored but if you do need it get ur done...:props:
