I picked up a DA and a bunch of products from Autogeek last week and am planning to knock out my first paint correction on my Black 2007 CTS-V over the long thanksgiving weekend. The car has roughly 50,000 miles on it and has always been garage kept and hand washed, but it does have a good amount of swirls that i want to clear up. I did have the hood and front bumper repainted about a year ago simply because i'm picky about how my car looks and wanted to get some of the rock chips and usual road rash removed from the front of the car. With that said, when i go to start polishing, do i have to treat the hood and front bumper any different than the rest of the body panels which are originally painted from the factory?? My products and process is listed below for your reference. Thanks!

- PC 7424XP with 5" backing plate
- Wolfgang Duo
- Wolfgang DGPS
- LC CSS 5.5" pads - 3 orange, 2 white, 2 gray, 1 red
- Mothers California Clay Kit
- Poorboys microfiber Deluxe Mega Towels
- and some microfiber detergent for the washing machine

I did a full paint correction (TSR, glaze, and DGPS using a PC) on my black 2007 CTS-V around xmas time and the results were amazing. Paint came out looking brand new... problem is I recently had my car in to the dealership for some warranty work and I told them not to wash the car but they did anyway ... needless to say i was not happy cause now i have a bunch of swirls back in my paint... what's going to be the best method of getting these out considering the car sits in the garage all the time and has only been driven ~500 miles since the paint correction was done..

Hi Nate,

I found the second post in a review I did for Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant and then found your first post and just merged them as they are the same topic.

Hang on and let me type up some help...

By the way, you're experience is what I've always called a "Horror Story", that is dealerships are notorious for being uneducated about how to properly wash or wax ANY car and the swirls you find in you car are just another example of their incompetence.

See my articles, here,

Hang on....

Simple.

Re-buff out the car using the Wolfgang Twins, the PC and the Lake Country pads and then apply your Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

Pretty much follow what I outline here,

OK, thanks Mike. I was hoping i wasn't going to have to do the entire process again, but thankfully it's not too hard with the PC. Looking forward to getting it to look like this again :)

It's possible you won't have to and you find out by doing a Test Spot.

Whether you have to start with the Wolfgang TSR depends upon how hard the paint is and how deep the swirls and scratches are.

The Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is a fine cut polish and it's possible it will remove the swirls and scratches so you can skip the TSR step but you won't know until you do some testing.

p.s.

Paint in above picture looks awesome!
