Metal Polishing - The finishing touch (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/wolfgang-car-care/)

Besides being in dire need to have the paint polished out correctly all of the brightwork, which includes both chrome and stainless steel needed to polished to restore oxidation, water spots and staining and restore a brilliant finish.

My good friend Adam aka Harleyguy on our forum is always willing to lend a hand when it comes to taking care of the brightwork on our project cars and he again took on the responsibility for this 1957 Chevrolet Bell Air.

The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has massive amounts of chrome and stainless steel trim but Adam made quick work out of polishing the brightwork using Wolfgang MetallWerk™ Concours Aluminum Polish.

Check it out...

Adam tends to take on the responsibility for making sure all the brightwork is polished and protected and he does a great job. Thank you Adam!

Mike I can't count how many cars I see at car shows that need some metal polishing. To spend so much money on a restoring, painting and wheels but don't polish the chrome or aluminum wheels. It really makes the car look unfinished.

***Shout out to Adam***

Don't know if you ever saw this article Adam but thanks for always being the "Metal Man" for our Extreme Makeovers and Show Car Makeovers.

I tend to get kind of busy with the newbies to machine polishing and you always make sure the finishing touches are put into place...

Like you did on this 1957 Chevy,

Adam aka HarleyGuy is always our Metal Man, he gravitates towards making dull metal shiny, here he tested some Flitz metal polish out on the rear passenger side wheel...

Thanks.

Mike,

Can I get these results by hand only?

Thanks.

If the chrome is in good shape to start with you bet!

The chrome on this Chevy was coated with a film of dirt just like the paint was, anything on the outside of the car gets dirty over time and cars like this usually have owners spraying paint on them or on other cars like them in the same area because they're "Car Guys" and the overspray gets on the paint, glass and chrome, so once in a while to restore that "new chrome" look you need to clean and polish it.

Hey Mike thanks for the props I just ran across this post been working late and haven't had much time to review the posts . Owning a few Harleys over the years with and without chrome you learn what products work and don't work . The Metallwerk polish is one of my go too products when we do the makeovers very easy to use and we get great results from it . Maybe we can talk Peter into bringing in his Cobra rims and doing a makeover just on them .

I like that idea, I'll check with him but it might not be till the next Thursday night clinic as this green machine is going to need our attention...
