2005 Infiniti G35 7/18/11

i fought the paint to get everything right.
i tried 3 dif machines, 2 dif compounds & 3 dif polishes!

the Ardex guy gave me a sample of Hi Def Polish that he swore by but i never ordered it after this job.
i tried using it on a few other black cars & just didnt like it but it was perfect as a fill in for this car & it was free! today was my lucky day!

no. i think the self healing paint was in 09. not sure if they are still using the self healing stuff. i do know nissan is full of poo with theyre hard clear coat sticker under the hood of the new GTR. thats some joke they got going on lol.
i wonder if anyone has done a test for the self healing paint. i would really like to see a lightly swirled car go into the spray booth & be baked, same like fresh paint would be baked. now that would be a real test to see if this self healing paint was the real deal or not.
thank you.

Nice save Andrew!

My black G37 is an 09 and has the self healing paint. The funny thing is the rock chips never get better. J/K. It does chip really easily though. If the self healing crap ever did anything, it was when the car was new. But it never made a positive difference because the paint's so soft it picks up swirls faster than it ever could possibly let them go.

Andrew, do you have any recommendations for compounds, polishes, and pads that you know work well on on my 09's "self healing" black paint? I've got water spots, light swirls, and fine cat scratches on the hood. I'll be using my new Flex 3401 and I will be learning as I go. It seems like there are lots of caveats with my paint. Any advice as to what I should watch out for?

You've got a great charity going on there...taking in a fellow's used G35 and giving him back a new one! :props: There's nothing like taking pride in one's work. :righton:

question .. I have a red 06 g35 .. after polishing all of the swirls completely out, I am left with exactly what this picture shows .. I thought at first that it was my towels linting but I tried everything to get these spots off including new towels, IPA, QD, etc .. is this normal ?? thanks

Very nice work. That is a nice G35, wonder if those are DPE wheels?
