I'm at a clients house and there is a guy here who has a few spots of latex paint on his seat. Any suggestions how to safely remove it?

I found a citrus based latex paint remover at Home Depot that worked well on removing latex paint from carpet - whatever you use, make sure you test it somewhere first and warn the customer that the cure might be worse than the disease...

If it is a very good quality latex paint for exterior use you will have a lot of trouble removing it. At least if you want to get it all off. If it is a cheaper latex paint and for interior use, mechanical removal with a Scotch Brite pad and LOTS of lubrication with water (do not rub hard) can get some paint off some non porous upholstery surfaces. Once latex dries, it is very hard to dissolve it unless you use a very harsh chemical like TSP in water.

How old is the paint and how thick is it?

If old and thick chances of it coming out are slim.

You need solvent to dissolve the paint.

You also will need an extractor to rinse and remove the solvent.

I absolutely would NOT use anything that you can buy in a retail store.

You need a professional product. I have my own carpet cleaning business with 10 years of experience.

I would use Pro's Choice Pro Solve Gel, Power Gel and an acid rinse. You may need a couple tubes. Nothing works better. It is also a gel so you drive solvent into the cushion which is important. You may want to get a "carpet shark" to gently agitate the fibers.

I hope Auto Geek is cool with me posting these links as they don't have anything similar that they sell.

You can purchase the product here: https://www.proschoicesupply.com/

Power Gel is extremely powerful.. only use a tiny drop!

Try some "Goof Off" or "Brush Cleaner". Small test spot first of course...

Link to Home Depot page listing both products:
