Tonight we're going to put a show car finish on the 1972 Corvette, anyone in the area that would like to help out and learn a few tips and techniques for machine polishing paint is welcome to join in the fun.


Like many cars, from a few feet away the paint looks pretty good...

Bring out the Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light aka the Cruel Master and then inspect...

Was thinking about using products from the Prima line (http://www.autogeek.net/prima-car-care.html) tonight...

Need to wipe her down first and then inspect to see if the paint needs claying, from the looks of the paint up close I'm pretty confident it's going to feel like concrete...

Also just to note...

It's cloudy and sprinkling outside so I was not able to get sun shots showing swirls but I'm going out with my trusty, dusty Canon to do so right now. The shots above were taken with my iPhone...


I know this was short notice for this event but the Ferrari I had scheduled canceled. Harleyguy is in route and said he would be happy to lend a hand.

I have a couple of Ferrari's lined up for the future though...

Just took a quick video to show the swirls and how badly the paint needs to be clayed. Turn your volume up when you see my hand rubbing across the fender and you can hear the contaminants on the paint as I rub it...

1. What camera are you using to take your video?

2. Approximately how long would it take you do all of that polishing yourself? What would say is a reasonable time frame for a single person with little experience?

3. Do you have a how-to post a youtube video instructional article?

4. This car is going to be blinding when it's finished. It's already a stunner.
