Found this gem in the storage room unopened and untouched since it was put there left by someone who owned my house. Online searches show this wax manufacture went out of business in the early 70's. But mainly advertised floor waxes. This Wax was primary sold in supermarkets.

The wax has great performance considering it's age. But possibly hazardous to health. It smells like Naphtha, goes on clear and drys instantly to a haze and is easy to buff off. The finish is left with a deep wet look. The coating lasts for about 5 rain falls. Essentially I can compare it too Nu Finish.

What do you guys know?

this is a brilliant find - it would be fun to throw a sample into the spectrum analyser just to see what they were working with. 8)

:welcome: TO AGO....There was a thread running earlier last night with a lot of

"old-school" Buffers and Polisher's, this would have fit in nicely there. I have no

idea about the wax you have, but all of this throwback stuff will have me looking!!!

You say it smells like naptha, so I'm thinking it may be a cleaner wax, maybe

someone with better knowledge of the product can chime in and be more of a help.

That's very cool. I remember watching an episode of American Pickers one time and they panned across an older guy's shelf which had a bunch of old waxes on there. The only one I recognized was the Collinite Sapphire.

I would like to see what that does on single stage paint and laquer, as that is probably what it was made for (considering clear coats probably weren't too popular when it was made).

Nice find, but I hope you don't mean NuFinish lasts 5 rain fall for you. In my experience, NuFinish is one of the longest lasting sealants there is, more durable than 845. The looks aren't for everyone, but the stuff is rock solid durable.

This wax sounds like Johnsons Car-Plate and Simonize Body Guard. These waxes were carnuba wax and other waxes melted down and mixed with solvent. They were very good in its day.

Cool find!
I don't know much about any Wilbert's products, but here's a couple of other gems I found, and their advertising/marketing, from the days of yore:
