Thanks for making me part of the Forum!
I've been polishing and waxing cars fro more than 50 years. I finally got enough sense to start using my Porter-Cable 7425 random orbital sander/polisher.
Should I be using a 5 inch or 6 in backing plate? (counterweight says "use only with 6 in plate) ? What size pads would be best?
I've seen a lot of discussion on the Forum where a 5in plate with 5-1/2 in pads seem to be the way to go.
This novice needs some advice!

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!

Porter Cable 7424 style polisher works best using 5 1/2" flat pads. The 6 1'2" are just too large and this has been confirmed here many times over.

Here's some great information that will help you if you need it.

Opti-Seal.

:iagree: Optimum Opti-Seal comes in a spray pump bottle and couldn't be easier to apply to a nicely prepared finish.
