Car is 1 month in my possession. Z28, black, probably never hand waxed. Just quick detailed. Had a hell of a time trying to get it perfect. I did everything possible to make it perfect. Just did not happen. I have micro marring that I could not get rid of. First I started on the hood. LC white with #9. Completely turned the hood grey from marring. Freaked out. Adjusted everything, speed pressure, distance, time, pattern, to no avail. Had to use a LC grey with #3 to take it out and even then it wasn't completely gone. Paint is soft or something. After market hood that the seller had painted himself. Did the whole car with white and #9 and called it good. Spent 3 days correcting the hood. I need to find a product that won't marr this paint. #3 has a cut of 1 and that too left marring, just smaller than #9. With wax on it looks great. But I fear it will be short lived. Any good advice?

Pic is before wax, Don't notice the marring unless using camera flash or Brinkman. Under normal daylight looks ok, but I know it is far from perfect.

After wax. Looks good for my first time. can you get paint to look flawless before waxing?? I mean, make it look like there is a coat of wax on it but it is bare? There is a lot of dust on it and it was scratched to hell before I buffed it from a cat. All the scrathes are gone, the micro marring makes me un-easy. when it comes to my paint, I have always been a perfectionist. My wife says I am obsessed, I say I am just dedicated.

The Z is looking pretty damn good! Makes just a little more than my wife's WS.6. Her's is just a mild heads/cam setup making 411/391. I just posted some finish pics of hers here:

Nice car!! Are you using a DA or a rotary? I'd ditch the #3 and #9 and pick up some #205 If working with a DA I'd say speed setting 5 with a gray LC pad, medium to light pressure with a very slow arm movement and that Black should look waxed before waxing it.

Griots garage DA. The paint looked good but it had spider webbing all over it and the hood was scratched all up from a cat and a buddy of mine who decided to wipe off bird dropping with a dry autozone microfiber. OUCH!!! I won't mess with it any more now. Washing, clay barring, taping, buffing, waxing, it took me forever. The hood is what threw me off. It has to be soft. With a Zaino microfiber, after buffing, it would scratch the paint. You should have seen what happened when I used #9 with a foam applicator by hand..... It looked like I used a 100 grit sandpaper and a block!! Only on the hood though. I corrected alot of tight spaces by hand and had no problem but the hood was a challenge.
