Hey guys, I searched the forum but couldn't find anything addressing this. Would you guys recommend the 5" or 6" kit for my PC 7424xp? The pads are a lot more thin then many foam pads so I was thinking I wouldn't be as big of an issue for the machine to turn the 6" pads. What do you guys think?

I posed this same question when I was debating on the different kits. I went ahead and got the 6" kit when it was on VIP special. I also got the 3" pads and backing plate, as well, for the smaller areas. I think I'll eventually get the 5" pads and backing plate. I will be winterizing my car this weekend using the 6" kit. I'll post a follow-up.

3" is the only way to go!

Serious answer, I went with the 5" kit.

When they first came out with the MF system, they said the 6" was for the Flex...then later a lot of people said the MF system doesn't work that well with the forced rotation.

Any more to this? I have a flex and a PC and was considering using the Megs system with the Flex since the PC vibrates so darn much!!

You definitely want a 5" kit especially for a PC. The bigger pad you have the more surface area there is to slow the pad down, which is especially inherent with the Megs MF system because there's a lot more grab with the microfiber pads.

I use the 5" kit with my PC and I absolutely LOVE it. Here's some pictures of a VW (notorious for hard clearcoat) that I did using the MF system. I don't really have any before pictures but trust me, it got rid of some pretty bad scratches! http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/41138-06-vw-passat-using-meguiars-mf-system.html

:iagree: This is about as large a pad you should use with the Porter cable 7424xp polisher. Smaller yes, larger no....

5" for sure for any DA. I understand that the flex is not the way to go with this system. I'd also get the 3" set up and you will be set. I'd add a couple extra of each of the cutting and finishing pads, 2 of each is not enough to do an entire car IMO.

Try it with the Flex 3401, you'll be very disappointed. On the other hand, with a random orbital...........cha-ching!!!!! :righton:

5" kit with non-flex DA is match made in heaven.

i have read somewhere in Megs site that 6"MF pads were for Flex DA and 5" MF pads will be your best choice for your PCXP as well as for GG6 and Megs G110V2.

Well, i'm using it with a PC (non XP). Does this mean I have to get another polisher?! :) I know, i know, the PC is fine, it just doesn't feel it. The Griots seems to get a lot of praise. I guess i've been spoiled with my Flex and going back to the PC isn't such a great experience.

I highly doubt that you have to get another DA. Stick with the one you got...I'm sure it will work just fine.

The 5" will be your best all around size, but for larger vehicles with open panels the 6" can save some time. The 3" are a must too. :props:
