You asked for it, and Meguiar's delivered! We're very excited to announce that we have the Meguiar's Pad Washer in stock and ready to ship. No longer will you have to clean pads by hand and deal with the mess associated with it. With the Meguiar's Pad Washer you can clean any type of pad with any polisher, dual action or rotary.

The Meguiar's Pad Washer consists of a durable 5-gallon bucket equipped with a grid insert supported by springs. Cleaning pads is as simple as adding a pad cleaner such as Detailer's Pro Polishing Pad Rejuvenator and pressing the pad against the grid insert with the machine turned on. Cleaning solution is pumped into the pads while you press the pad against the grid insert. An adjustable splash guard keeps all the cleaning solution inside the bucket so there is no mess. The Meguiar's Pad Washer also includes a watertight lid so you can transport water and cleaning solution on the go.

Here is a picture of Jason Rose, Field Marketing Manager for Meguiar's Professional Products demonstrating the pad washer using a G110v2 and a Microfiber Cutting Disc.

So the wolf in sheep's clothing finally arives, eh?

At least they didn't jack up the price over the GG UPW just because of some Meg's stickers on it :)

I thought they might lower it due to increased sales volume because of the Meg's stickers on it!?

Possible, but I doubt the folks at Grit Guard would have allowed that since it would ultimately end up undercutting their sales.

The other big surprise is that Meguiar's doesn't appear to have released a pad cleaning solution of their own to go with this (even if they just relabeled the stuff GG sells). And they suggest putting the cleaner right in the pad washer, as opposed to spraying it on and just having clean water in the bucket.

You're not thinking fourth dimensionally, Marty! How could it undercut their sales when they are making it??

If I came to you and said, hey that's a nice product, but you don't sell nearly as many of them as you could--who's ever heard of Grit Guard?? I put my product in every big box store and auto parts chain there is, everyone has heard of us. If I take this pad washer and put my name on it, I can double or triple your sales, I have reps visiting every body shop and dealer in the country...but I need it at a slightly lower price point, you can do that if you're selling 3 times as many, right?

Is it advisable to use the MF discs when they are not completely dry?

I know this is a no-no :nomore: with the hydro pads.

:awman: Maybe it's new to Meguiars. I'm glad my GGUPW wasn't in the room to see this.

True; I was only thinking about the extra party in the middle getting a cut of the profits, without taking into account the volume potential that would more than make up for it.

Grit Guard said they liked the Meg's relabeling (like with the yellow grit guard) due to the sale opportunities through Meg's distribution network. The profit margin is pretty high anyway so I doubt they are really taking a hit.

I'm not implying these washers don't work.

The HIGH cost of these washers is the driving force behind me not ordering one. This is molded plastic and at $140.00 I just can't see the expenditure... Even if this was 1/2 the price, the profit to manufacturing ratio is obscene......

You're absolutely right. I was able to get a GG branded one with pad cleaning solution for $100. Thats's still obscene for how much they cost to make. They do however work well, and we all know that sometimes you just have to buy it even though you know it's too expensive.

I think Megs coming out with their version of the pad washer is great for added sales of their product line.
Why would a detailer pick on over another?
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/autogeek_2173_968271 (http://www.autogeek.net/grit-guard-universal-pad-washer.html) @ $134.99

Maybe color I suppose :dunno:

I'm wondering if it is the same build quality as the original GGPW,or is there any added features/functions?
I would think since Meg's came out with their version, they would at least minimally differentiate theirs from the original.

BTW,I do like the color scheme.
