WOW! That came out looking great.

All work done using the new Optimum Hyper-Compound and Hyper-Polish and then sealed with Opti-Coat II

I have the process pictures of Robert, Adam, Chavron and myself buffing out the cars and will try to get to these later today...

The paint came out very glassy and clear, it really brought the colors of metalflake finish.

The new Hyper-Compound and Hyper Polish worked great on the custom paint job. We used the compound with the Flex PE14 and the polish with both Flex 3401s and Griot's Garage and Porter Cable DA Polishers.

what pads did you use? I have had good luck with their wool pad and foam pad. The last time i used the compound i used the yellow pad on the 3401, an for the polish I used the white pad. Jonathan

we wraped up about midnight, maybe some moon shots

really cool car, alot of angles and ledges to work but Flex with that
3.5" cyan pad was an awesome combination!

BTW.......I really enjoyed wiping up after the girls too! .......or was that drool

I'm normally not much for really "in your face" flake, but that looks good. Especially since the before pictures were very dull.

But your right I can only imagine how that Metal Flake would look today in the sun . Hopefully the owner will send to sun shot to Mike to post . We worked out butts off on the car .

We finished the buffing work on the car about 10:30pm so no sun shots last night. Then we took some after shots of the results. I expect to see Dave and his Corvette again in the future so I'll try to get some then...

The paint on this Corvette was what I would classify as hard. There were a lot of swirls and scratches, even sanding marks left in the paint from probably when the car was originally painted. Dave is the third owner and he says he's never going get rid of it as it's just too much fun.

I'm working on the write-up of the process for this thread,

Picture & Comments - 1977 Can Am Corvette - Extreme Makeover - Modeled by Amy and Janna (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/pictures-open-garage-classes/41292-picture-comments-1977-can-am-corvette-extreme-makeover.html)

After I get the before, process and after pictures I'll "open" the thread for discussion. We used Hydro-Tech pads on

Flex PE14 Rotary Buffers
Flex 3401 Forced Rotation Dual Action Polishers
Porter Cable 7424XP and Griot's Garage DA Polishers.

Here's Dave the owner and his friend Rick, another Corvette owner using Griot's Garage DA Polishers...

Im the MANThe OC did make the paint look darker but I believe in the sun the metal flake would over power the black .It's almost the same affect when we did the Harley in the garage the Root Beer color paint over powered the metal flake until we rolled it outside then we needed sun glasses
