One of the most frequent questions people have regarding detailing clay is how often can you use it? Quite a few factors come in to play, such as vehicle condition, size of clay bar, etc. If you clay a vehicle that's been sitting outside for fifteen years and has never been clayed, you can count on using at least one 50-100 gram clay bar. That's if you want to ensure you don't reintroduce any embedded contaminants in the clay back onto the paint, possibly scratching or marring the finish. Another thing to think about buying! Just a thought though. Seems this product would have to be used after each panel otherwise if you knead it before hand as your claying the car then it's in there for good.

You can do it after every panel, or after claying the really dirty panels (hood, roof, etc). It will clean about 95%-98% of the dirt and debris from the clay and only takes a couple seconds if you have a sink or bucket handy. :props:

How well does it work to remove tar?
I use clay a fair amount to remove tar and it pretty much destroys my clay.

It will remove 95%-98% of the contamination from the clay bar. If you notice any obvious chunks of grit, you can simply remove those using your finger nails.

Thanks for the post, Nick. But, am I the only only one that would rather just buy new clay? I am not a professional detailer, more the enthusiast, so that may be the difference. Just too much work, more expense, etc. Not criticising if it works for you.

It takes so little cleaner that if you have multiple clay bars, or if you're a professional detailer with pounds of clay, a couple bucks for a 16oz bottle of cleaner is well worth it. It's a similar concept to cleaning your pads after each use. Yes, the clay is going to wear out eventually or become heavily soiled, but at least this product helps extend the life by thoroughly cleaning the bar after each use. :props:
